2007 Lyndenhurst Cabernet Sauvignon from the Spottswoode Estate Vineyard Highly Recommended by Whom You Know

Perfect for summer in Manhattan, the 2007 Lyndenhurst Cabernet Sauvignon is a ripe, full-bodied red that will delight your palette and we specifically love it for 4th of July in Manhattan: drink American!  Whom You Know learned of Spottswoode through the book we reviewed by Anna Getty: http://www.whomyouknow.com/2010/05/read-this-anna-gettys-easy-green.html
So thank you Anna, for your suggestion!

The 2007 Lyndenhurst Cabernet Sauvignon, made in St. Helena, Napa Valley, is not too heavy for the hot weather like some overbearing reds can be.  It is a perfect complement to a lovely steak or even a pasta dish with red sauce and seafood-we particuarly like the dish we had like this: Lobster and Shrimp L'American at The Grist Mill in Farmington, Connecticut.  Also, this Lyndenhurst Cabernet would be a fabulous selection for a cocktail party as it would pair well with various h'ors doeuvres.  Complex, full of dark fruitiness, and with great legs, even ZZ Top would say this is a winner, though these are not the legs they were referring to.  (You know the song.)  A plum burgundy deepness awaits your mouth and this is so fabulous the Vinturi did not make much of a difference.  Approachable, brilliant and balanced, at 14.4% alcohol by volume the 2007 Lyndenhurst Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic pick.  We highly recommend the 2007 Lyndenhurst Cabernet Sauvignon by Spottswoode!

The 2007 Lyndenhurst Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted in the same exacting manner as the Spottswoode Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, its name comes from the estate’s heritage. In 1908, the property was called “Lyndenhurst” in honor of the linden trees that still grace the garden. That historic pre-prohibition stone winery building adorns the label. Stunning aromatics of plum, butterscotch and coffee are a generous invitation to this wine. A rich palate of fresh dark berries, cherries and vanilla lead to deliciously sweet tannins. Seamless from aroma to finish, this wine is wonderfully representative of the incredible 2007 vintage. Only 870 cases were made; the grapes were sourced entirely from the Spottswoode Estate Vineyard, which has been organically farmed since 1985. The wine aged in 100% French oak for 22 months (70% new barrels) and is a blend of 92.7% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7.3% Cabernet Franc. The appellation is St. Helena.
