Celebrate Hampton’s 400th anniversary with the hottest late model drivers at Langley Speedway during Hampton Heat event! --500 free tickets available to Hampton residents at Hampton Visitor Center--
On Saturday, July 10, 2010, Langley Speedway will host the Hampton Heat 200, one of the track’s largest annual races. Hampton Heat occurs as part of Hampton’s 400th anniversary celebration July 8-11, 2010. Doors open at 5:30 pm and festivities at the track culminate with the 200-lap (79-mile) Hampton Heat NASCAR Whelen All-American Late Model Division Stock Car event.
Langley Speedway will make 500 free tickets available to Hampton residents beginning July 1, 2010, with a limit of four tickets per household. The free tickets are available only at the Hampton Visitor Center, located at 120 Old Hampton Lane in downtown Hampton. The visitor center hours are Monday – Saturday, 9 am – 5 pm, Sunday 1-5 pm. Proof of Hampton residency in the form of an official state identification or residential utility bill must be shared.
Participating drivers will vie for the checkered flag on the track where racing greats Darrell Waltrip, Dale Earnhardt Sr., and Denny Hamlin began their careers. Drivers from throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast are expected to participate. The winning driver will receive a cash prize of $10,000 from a purse of more than $34,000.
Festivities begin at 5:30 pm and racing gets underway at 7 pm. In addition to the Late Model division event, Grand Stock, Super Trucks, Legends and UCar divisions will compete. See www.langley-speedway.com for schedule and details.
Admission fees for the Hampton Heat event are $10.00 Adults, $8.00 Military (Active or Retired) and Senior Citizens (60 & Over), and $5.00 Children ages 6-12. Admission is free for race fans under age 5. A special Family Pack admission rate of $25.00 admits 2 adults and 2 children. Advance tickets can be purchased in the Langley Speedway office Monday through Saturday, 9am-5pm at the gate. Parking is free. There is no charge for the children’s activity area.
The race will run in two segments of 100 laps. There will be a 15-minute pit stop between segments.
