NIGHTLIGHT: The Womanity of it all

Earlier this week, Whom You Know, in addition to a host of beauty editors and insiders, were invited to the press preview for Thierry Mugler’s latest fragrance, Womanity, held at the Clarins USA headquarters in New York.

The Thierry Mugler and Clarins staff treated us to a lovely event which embraced the essence of what Womanity was all about. The distinctly-designed bottles of Womanity were laid out all throughout the space in a color motif that was all about the key ingredients in the Womanity fragrance: the fig, caviar and fig wood. Even the hors d’oeuvres that were served on this evening prominently featured figs and caviar, and there was even a Womanity-ni cocktail for us to enjoy!

All of this perfectly eased us in the mood to be immersed in the magical world of Womanity. Thierry Mugler really took the time to develop and perfect this fragrance, it was 4 years in the making. Womanity is the new face of feminity, a freedom of expression of today’s multi-faceted woman, and really, what woman can’t relate to that? We were also treated to a short film that illustrates exactly what this Womanity woman is, and for those of us who like to get into the science of how this scent was developed, we were educated on how Thierry Mugler is the first to use this new proprietary technique called molecular extraction, which allows for any item which has a scent to have its scent molecules be extracted such that all facets and layers of this item’s fragrance are perfectly captured.

As the 3 key scents that comprise Womanity are the previously-mentioned fig, caviar and fig wood, we were treated to fragrance strips spritzed with the reconstitution of these scents, which are the exact duplicates of the scent molecules that are derived from the actual items. This sidesteps the possible allergic reactions that one who has allergies or sensitivities to these items may encounter. The surprise here is the unlikely use of caviar in a parfum, but the blending with fig and fig wood makes for a harmonious and wonderful scent. Bottles of Womanity were passed around and we were encouraged to spritz it on our wrists and note how it smells totally different on our skin and amongst the different attendees at the event. Thanks very much to the staff at Thierry Mugler and Clarins (Pierre Aulas, Tanya Pushkine and Erin Cohen), for a classy and memorable introduction to Womanity. We’re sure when Womanity launches in August that you’ll have the next big Thierry Mugler fragrance hit and a sure-to-be classic!
