READ THIS: Six Weeks to Sleeveless and Sexy by J. J. Virgin

JJ’s tips for a healthy lifestyle stress the importance of choosing organic foods, making better food choices, getting enough of the right vegetables, achieving the right balance of protein, and how all of this comes together to help you maintain your energy and keep from sugar binging and crashing.  And how many foods that say “organic” are not and why, and how many mystery ingredients confuse metabolism.  Her explanations of good foods and bad foods is invaluable – and a real eye opener for readers!

In reading this, we imagine her target audience would be those that are the exact opposite of what she has achieved: the total couch potato (TCP).    If you are a TCP you totally need to read this and follow this to a T because you are the kind of person that needs a major overhaul and the militant thoughts of J. J. Virgin.  At Whom You Know we don't have TCP's on the panel: we believe in being fit and healthy.  Peachy Deegan strongly believes in moderation and the gospel of French Women Don't Get Fat by our beloved Mover and Shaker Mireille Guiliano, but if you want to look super pumped and have arms of steel J. J. Virgin will be able to get you there in Six Weeks to Sleeveless.  She is right, there will never be spanx for arms so your arms should be in toned shape.  Although arms get a lot of attention in this book and in the media these days, levelheaded Peachy says you should concentrate on the holistic effect: i.e. pay attention to your whole body!  Save the pennies, and the dollars will take care of themselves so to speak....Peachy is still looking for the daily Champagne and Star Vodka allotment in the diet but she hasn't found it yet.

We need our naps and we need our caffeine.  Seriously, how do you think Whom You Know would have ever reached 4k posts without those two key components?  We will not give up pizza at Mimi's or bagels, sorry J. J.!  But if we had fat arms, we would definitely put strict limits on them.  As Peachy is committed to review food and alcohol not called for in this diet, she did not follow the program to a T but those that see her and the panel think she and all panelists in this review are in fab shape. Peachy does love her arms, but she wants everyone to feel that way so if you follow J. J.'s advice you will be on your way to it!

J. J. is right on in her thoughts on binging: don't do it.  We don't really even understand that mentality since Peachy has never binged, been overweight or been on a diet. We like J. J.'s thoughts about eating real food-limiting processed foods is a great idea.  Her advice on getting your proper sleep is absolutely clutch.  Pictures in the middle section add a great visual touch to the exercise regimen, and the workout music J. J. picks is quite fun.  We suggest baby steps, not totally cold turkey on your life as is called for at the end of the day.

The Read This panel took a look at Six Weeks to Sleeveless and Sexy and they said:

Being someone who's been self-conscious of her fleshier-than-normal arms for most of her adult life, it was with quite anticipation and excitement that I went thru JJ Virgin's Six Weeks to Sleeveless and Sexy.  Some time ago, I'd given up on the idea of ever having thin, sleek and toned arms, thinking it'd never be mine, but this book has given me hope.  After all, JJ has successfully coached some of the most well-known names out there on their overall fitness and nutrition goals.  To be clear, exercise alone isn't going to cut it, there are many aspects of a person's lifestyle which determines if she, or he, will have not just toned arms but a sound, healthy and toned body too.  JJ's method involves an overhaul in your diet, exercise, sleep, stress management and personal motivation, which are all very important factors that determine your general health overall.  As mentioned earlier, it isn't simply doing more arm exercises, but there is a holistic and lifestyle re-alignment that will help you be fit and healthy overall and one of the very nice results is you'll have the toned and sculpted arms of your dreams.  JJ's instructions are very action-oriented and she comes across as the lifestyle coach who will give you that added push and motivation that you'll need in order to turn your body around.  With the sleeker body and, of course, sleeker arms to be proud of, you too, can be sleeveless and sexy in 6 weeks!

"I hate my arms!"  As summer begins, this is one of the most frequent laments uttered by women across the country.  Now, thanks to JJ Virgin and her new book, Six Weeks To Sleeveless And Sexy, that may not be the case for much longer!  Nutrition and fitness coach to Hollywood stars, Olympians, musicians and more, JJ Virgin brings her no-nonsense, no-fuss approach to creating a healthy lifestyle and hones in on how to get the trendiest accessory out there - toned, sexy arms.  In addition to the exercises that one would expect from a book like this, Virgin also spends quite a bit of time discussing eating habits, sleeping habits, and ways to minimize stress, all of which contribute to leading an overall healthier life.  She takes time to explain why "diets" don't work, and also stresses the importance of burning fat, not muscle!  The exercises she recommends are quick, simple, and effective...and although she recommends exercising six days a week, the overall time spent on the exercises is less than the time most people spend at the gym over the course of two or three days.  They are designed to rev up metabolism and work the muscles efficiently - so rather than pouring hours into exercises that are only somewhat effective, those who follow Virgin's plan will see visible results with a minimal time commitment.  Virgin includes a number of recipes for quick, healthy meals, and also give tips for how to order when dining out.  She lists the best choices for fruits and vegetables, as well as healthy fats, and advises readers of the dangers of "diet foods," which may be low calorie, but are high in sugar and can mess up your metabolism!  The last chapter in the book is kind of a "dessert" in itself - it's meant to be read AFTER you've gotten your arms in shape and are ready to show them off.  It includes fun tips on how to dress to showcase your new arms, tricks to make your arms look even better, and how to pose for photos.  Besides all of this, there's a terrific appendix which lists many of Virgin's favorite workout songs, and a great list of resources to supplement the book.  Overall, a quick, easy read, and a surefire way to get your arms in shape and live a healthier life.

JJ Virgin's book, entitled "Six Weeks to Sleveless and Sexy" is a how to book which guides through the author's "5-Step Plan to Sleek, Strong and Sculpted Arms."  The book establishes the rules you will need to succeed in this quest.  First step is to rid you kitchen of foods that will block your success and instead fill your kitchen with foods that will help.  She also tells you what to have for dessert and what to drink.  She tells you how to plan your meals and how to eat at restauaraants. Then come the exercises--for example "bursting", which means you sprint for at least 4 minutes every other day.  On your day off from bursting, you weight train.  And she shows you just how to do it to sculpt those arms--and all the rest of you.  Her book is fun because she has no-nonsense attitude and motivates you do the work you need to get those sleek arms everyone admires.  It is a very helpful book!
