Spa Peachy: Sphatika Oxygen Facial

Janet League- Katzin, Director/Founder of Sphatika, has introduced the Sphatika Oxygen Facial to the faces of Manhattan, so Peachy Deegan just had to try it out.  You know Whom You Know embraces skincare, and we have our favorites among over 700 posts, but we only have favorites because we tried new procedures and products in the first place!

What we like about Sphatika is that they are into bespoke everything, just like we are.  Customization is the name of the game there.  Each client is different and each is appropriately treated, as they should be in the luxury market.  If a sauna does not appeal to you in June, you skip the sauna!  If you want to wear your own shoes like Peachy did as she cannot get enough of her fabulous new Adidas Super Nova Sequence 3's - you wear your own shoes.  If you want crystal, it is there.  Peachy just kind of likes to wear her own jewelry...there is no crazy strange zen music there, but if you want to bring in your own music, like Jenna Esposito's hit cd's they are happy to accommodate.  (Of course Peachy's sneakers are immaculate and you should only walk around in your own shoes there if yours are as well: everything we saw at Sphatika was immaculate.  This kind of cleanliness is key to a successful spa experience.)

The Sphatika experience begins when you leave the elevator and turn right to the doors of pleasure.  It is immediately evident that that is the direction of the spa on the floor on which Sphatika is located.  Their front desk is adorned beautifully in tile and this is a place that pays attention to details.  We liked their turquoise accents on everything. Donna graciously greeted us upon arrival, and Shirley Jo Aiken was master of the oxygen facial.

The facial began with a facial cleansing cream, followed by a citrus toner, which had lovely aloe vera and citrus in it.  Pearl night serum followed, then it was time for the actual oxygenation.  Using a Luzern hyperbonic oxygen machine, Shirley Jo oxygenated Peachy's face.  If you have never had this before, it is kind of like the complete opposite of Mr. Thirsty at the dentist.  Air is blown at you instead of being sucked away.  It is a much more delicate process than Mr. Thirsty and this process of oxygenation has been made popular by Madonna-she missed a good polo match on Sunday she must have been home oxygenating.  (Madonna was in attendance last year at the Veuve Clicquot Classic.)  The pure oxygen infuses oxygen into your skin.  First Peachy received the hylauronic acid mist cooling spray and this was followed by ten to fifteen minutes of oxygen infusion.   Then came the citrus hydration mist and the hydrating rose oil, and finally the Vitamin A night cream.  This is quite a refreshing experience, particularly in the summer months.  We suggest you try it out!  You can also have the full body treatment to go with it, but our schedule did not allow for that.

Across the street from Columbus Circle, Sphatika is great to go to before your shopping excursion in the Time Warner Center!  After her oxygenating facial, Peachy checked out Crabtree and Evelyn and more of her favorite stores there.
