Whom You Know Announces an Upcoming Mover and Shaker: Kate MacMurray of MacMurray Ranch!

Of nearly 200 Movers and Shakers, we have only ever announced an upcoming feature once before this (for Swifty's Robert and Stephen: http://www.whomyouknow.com/2010/03/upcoming-mover-and-shakers-robert.html).

Today Peachy Deegan met Kate MacMurray and we think she is even more fabulous than her wine and we highly recommend and love that:

If you are not drinking MacMurray right now, you should be.  It's 6pm in Manhattan!

Many people commemorate births with something significant, and not only does Kate MacMurray have a twin but they also seem to have a third member of the family born around the same time: the MacMurray Ranch.  Today, MacMurray Ranch, with its old homestead, rolling hills, and the well-kept vineyards, remains a gathering place for the community and for wine aficionados from around the world.

“There is a wonderful sense of timelessness here,” Kate says. “The seasons in the vineyard mark the gentle turning of the earth. I tell time by the vines.” Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris grapes were planted in the mid-1990s, and the first vintage of MacMurray Ranch wines arrived with the new millennium.   We hear Chardonnay is their latest.

Kate sees parallels between her life today on MacMurray Ranch and her former life as an actor and writer in Hollywood. “One of the techniques actors use is called ‘sense memory’, reaching for remembered aromas or flavors to evoke a time and place and emotion. Tasting our Pinot Noir wines is like that…one sip reminds you of wild berries; the next sip is earthy and warm like a summer afternoon; the next carries the sense of cool ocean fog. You really get a whole movie in every glass.”

Kate is a true delight to meet, and not only is she knowledgeable about history and well-read, she is a genuinely nice person and as we always say, it is nice to be important but is more important to be nice.  We cannot wait to feature her as a Mover and Shaker and we suggest if you are in Sonoma County Labor Day weekend, you check out MacMurray here:
