DAYLIGHT: Bastille Day, Celebrated on Sunday, July 11th

The street outside the Alliance Francaise could not have been busier and more celebrated than it was this past Sunday, in honor of Bastille Day, which of course was yesterday.  If you read Whom You Know often, you know that Peachy herself is not French but she did study it in school and loves the French culture, and our absolute most favorite French person is Mireille Guiliano:

If you didn't read her four books, you should celebrate Bastille day this week by buying them and reading them this summer.  In our book reviews that are approaching 200 in quantity, we have not recommended as many as four books by anyone else.

So in our French Women Don't Get Fat spirit on Sunday, Peachy Deegan scanned East 60th street in search of the best French products to feature in upcoming posts using the philosophy of Women, Work and the Art of Savoir Faire.

Peachy enjoyed meeting:
Marianne Prebet
Mollie Battenhouse
Florent Chauvin
Veronique Perret
Katie Bobish
Doni Belau
Sophie Magnaval
Ricardo Chapa
Marc Bauer
Mary Montague
Brian Kiendl
Patrice Saracco
Michelle Adams
Michael Golba
Catherine Gasta

The highlight for Peachy was the chocolate mousse with berries and tapioca pearls with coconut milk and rhubarb by the French Culinary Institute!  It is a Peachy's Pick.

French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization incorporated in the State of New York. Its mission is to promote and enhance the knowledge and appreciation of French and Francophone culture, to increase the knowledge of the French language, and to encourage interaction among French, Francophone and American people through programs in education and the arts.
Founded at the turn of 20th century, the French Institute and the Alliance Française de New York operated as two separate organizations, the first promoting French arts, the second teaching French. In 1971 they merged to form what has become one of the largest and most respected centers of French-American activities in the U.S: the French Institute Alliance Française.
Located at 22 East 60th Street between Park and Madison Avenues on New York City’s Upper Eastside, the beautiful Beaux Arts building is reminiscent of the architecture of Haussmann Paris. Over 6,000 students learn French at the Language Center, New York's leading center for French language. The Haskell Library is the most comprehensive private French library in the United States. The 400-seat Florence Gould Hall Theater, where they present LIVE performing arts events and New York’s only year-round French cinema series CinémaTuesdays; Tinker Auditorium where they present culinary, literary, and other cultural events; the dramatic penthouse space, Le Skyroom (featuring a demonstration kitchen) where they present exclusive Art de Vivre events; and the recently opened FIAF Gallery ensure FIAF’s place as a vibrant cultural force for New Yorkers of all ages and backgrounds.
