An Update from Our Olympian Mover and Shaker, Tim Morehouse!

Tim Morehouse has been a Mover and Shaker for quite awhile now and we love to hear his updates! We still think the best one was when he showed President Obama how it is done:http://www.whomyouknow.com/2009/09/whom-you-knows-mover-and-shaker.html

Tim tells us:

Hope your summer is off to a great start!  I just returned from a tremendous week in Atlanta, Georgia at the US Fencing National Championships where I captured my first ever individual National Championship!  It wasn't easy and not my best fencing, but probably some of the gutsiest and smartest of my career. I was trailing 6-12 (in a match to 15) before mounting a comeback and winning 15-14!   After my Olympic Silver Medal, this championship represents the 2nd most significant accomplishment of my career. (Hoping for much more ahead!)  I also finished the season as #1 ranked USA fencer and my club team, Manhattan Fencing Center, took home the Bronze Medal.

You can watch the gold medal match:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OrU-ILjubE&feature=related
At 3:40 I'm trailing 6-12...
At 7:20 I'm down 13-14...
In other amazing news from this week, I just closed the deal with a publishing company for my first book which will be out in hardcopy in Spring of 2012!  The book is a sports memoir with "lessons learned" from both my experiences in fencing and also in my work with Teach For America as a teacher and on-staff.   Still pinching myself on this one!  Hope it will be something you'll enjoy reading! :)

What's Ahead: I'll be competing again at Pan American Championships from August 2nd-9th.  Olympic Qualification starts in only 300 days so it is time to step up the training and focus!   I will have some other fun announcements ahead as well!
Other Stuff: It was a fun 10 days in Atlanta.  6500 competitors and 102 events took place at the national championships which is the largest fencing competition ever held in the world!  Our sport continues to grow and that is truly exciting for me!
Thanks for all your support! (Onwards to the Pan Ams and marching towards London 2012!)
