Local NYC Students Design and Celebrate Back to School Collection for Vanilla Star- High School of Fashion Industries Students Design Back To School Collection for Vanilla Star Jeans to be Unveiled Exclusively at Wet Seal with BTS Blow Out

On Wednesday, September 1st junior denim brand Vanilla Star Jeans will unveil its Back-to-School capsule collection created by students of the High School of Fashion Industries located in New York City. The brand will celebrate the designs with a Back to School Blow Out exclusively at Wet Seal and hosted by Z100’s DJ Phill Kross.

Participating students from the High School of Fashion Industries, one of the top fashion high schools in the country, designed two outfits to be included in the Fall 2010 collection. The students were challenged to design outfits appropriate for the back-to-school season and relevant to the Vanilla Star “Smart Girls Rock!” image, which were reviewed by Mark Levy, president of Vanilla Star, and Gretchen Davies, denim buyer for Wet Seal.

“Vanilla Star has always encouraged teens to live their dreams and promotes hard work to do so”, says Vanilla Star president Mark Levy. “Through our partnership with High School of Fashion Industries we hope to give these talented students the opportunity to dip their toes in the real world of fashion and design”.

The top three winning student-designs will be unveiled and featured in the main window display of the Wet Seal store on 14th Street in New York City. As part of the celebration guests will get a chance to participate in a karaoke contest, request stylist advice from the Wet Seal and Vanilla Star teams, and win a back to school outfit from the new Vanilla Star collection while the favorite teen music hits are played by Z100’s DJ Phil Kross.

“Wet Seal is very excited to welcome the designs of such gifted students into our stores”, commented Gretchen Davies, denim buyer for Wet Seal. “The designs are innovative and a perfect fit for the Vanilla Star and Wet Seal customer. They are outfits created by teens for teens”.
“The opportunity Vanilla Star and Wet Seal have provided to our students is priceless”, says Robert di Mauro, board member of the High School of Fashion Industries. “We are honored and pleased to offer our students creative efforts to an engaging and inspiring brand”.
