READ THIS: A Vintage Affair by Isabel Wolff

As we always say, it's not who you know, its WHOM YOU KNOW, so we were quite excited when we saw Kerry Taylor played a part in this work.  As you will remember, Peachy Deegan had breakfast at Sotheby's with Kerry and met her then:

and even Jacques Fath is mentioned; we met his people at the Perfume Expo last year:

How fabulous it would be to wear his clothes along with his perfume!

A Vintage Affair is an excellent novel that chronicles the life of a thirty-something Londoner who clearly is in love with vintage clothes and makes it her life mission.  Along the way, she forms lasting relationships and during the character development, the reader is drawn in invitingly into her life, regardless of the reader's own level of interest in vintage.  A must read, A Vintage Affair will also make you want to take a trip to London and make you feel as if you did, if only through the book!  We totally agree that Vintage clothing, among other things, makes the mark of individuality!  And, we agree it can be a good investment. We love buying low and selling high....and the mark of personal history is really priceless.  We won't give away much of the story, but we highly recommend it as a book you read this weekend or anytime!

The magical ability vintage items have to create connections with their owners past and present shines through in British author Isabel Wolff’s bestselling novel, A VINTAGE AFFAIR, which will now be published in the US as a Bantam Books Hardcover on June 29, 2010. An instant hit when it was published to lavish praise in the UK, Wolff’s novel illuminates the power of friendship, the repercussions of actions large and small, and the enduring allure of the perfect dress.

A VINTAGE AFFAIR introduces readers to Phoebe Swift, a former fashion auctioneer from Sotheby’s who has just opened her own vintage clothing shop outside London. Phoebe lovingly restores each stitch and thread of the frothy cupcake prom dresses, classic Dior suits, and sleek Madame Gres gowns she sells at Village Vintage—giving the clothes a new life and transforming their owners as well. As word spreads about the restorative affect of Phoebe’s clothes, she must manage not only the store’s hot new status, but also the tricky waters of two suitors, both (or neither?) of whom may be suitable. But it’s an elderly woman with a secret—and a child’s blue coat—who enters Phoebe’s life and shop and who will offer her the one-of-a-kind relationship she’s been looking for all this time.
