Chevrolet Has Another Successful Year of Pitching In for Youth Baseball Chevrolet, MLB and The Scotts Company to makeover five baseball fields across the U.S.

Chevrolet’s support of baseball from the makeover of youth fields to continuing as ‘Official Vehicle of Major League Baseball®,  came together in numerous ways in communities across the United States in 2010.
“Our dealers have worked with youth leagues in 28 states to encourage the dream of reaching the Majors for thousands of children,” said Alan Batey, vice president, Chevrolet Sales and Service. “We think it is important to continue this tradition and bring the game to the next generation of players.”
Chevrolet, along with 1,000 of its dealerships, has expanded its support of youth baseball players in communities across the country through the Chevy Youth Baseball program this year. Dealers helped raise more than $4 million to benefit nearly 40,000 teams and 600,000 players. These dealers have helped raise more than $11 million over the last five years.
Participating youth baseball leagues receive equipment and monetary donations, unique MLB experiences including game tickets and invitations to exclusive instructional clinics, as well as fundraising opportunities, compliments of Chevrolet and its dealers.
Chevrolet also partnered with Major League Baseball® , MLB Advanced Media  and The Scotts Company, the Official Lawn Care Company of MLB, to refurbish five youth baseball fields in the U.S. through ‘Building Diamonds and Dreams. Fans of local youth baseball teams entered their local community for a chance to win the field makeover.  The following five winners were drawn from the entries submitted:
·         City of Mebane, N.C.
·         Pflugerville Little League, Pflugerville, Texas
·         Brownsburg Little League/Brownsburg Parks Department, Brownsburg, Ind.
·         Lakeside Little League, Granite Bay, Calf.
·         Weymouth Township, Mays Landing, N.J.
The fields will be refurbished by Ripken Design, a division of Ripken Baseball, Inc., with the use of Scotts products. Ripken Design is a professional design and consulting firm that specializes in the feasibility and design of amateur and professional sports facilities.
The five finalists associated with the field makeover also were entered for a chance to win their choice of a new Chevrolet Malibu, Traverse, Equinox or Silverado. The winner, who is from New Jersey, chose a new Traverse.
The nominations for the field makeovers ran from Opening Day on April 5 through the MLB All-Star Game® on July 16, 2010.
In addition to the youth baseball activities, Chevrolet returned as a sponsor of the 2010 MLB All-Star Game® in Anaheim, Calif. and provided vehicles for the MLB All-Star Game Red Carpet Show presented by Chevy on MLB Network, a free parade of All-Stars through the streets of Anaheim.
For the fourth year in a row, Chevrolet is sponsoring the Roberto Clemente Award, which each year recognizes one Major League Baseball® player who combines a dedication to giving back to the community with outstanding skills on the baseball field. The award honors the late Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder who died in a plane crash in on Dec. 31, 1972 while enroute to Nicaragua to deliver earthquake relief supplies. Fans can visit chevy.com/clemente to have a chance to vote for the player they believe deserves the Roberto Clemente Award.
