READ THIS: Real Men Don't Say Splendid by Michael Gorman and the Peter Pauper Press Highly Recommended by Whom You Know
Is it ever OK for people of the male persuasion to say "bye bye" or "scrumptious"? In all of our Peter Pauper Press reviews ever, this is by far Peachy's favorite. The moment she got the book she read it cover to cover and laughed so hard she cried. She laughed even harder imagining some of the manliest men she knows reading it, and put them to work on the panel! There are words that a real man just doesn't say---words that make women cringe, and turn romantic dates into playdates. Here is a list of those words---99 of them, to be exact---and mines to sweep from the masculine vocabulary. 104-page hardcover; 6-1/4" square. Read with kleenex! Our panel composed of ex-professional male athletes that are Peachy's college buddies, who have been such good "sports" say:
“Real Men Don’t Say Splendid” published by Peter Pauper Press, Inc. is a classic read. A must have for men & women 21+, if you want to laugh your butt off. Creative, funky, and a little bit distasteful, which is the best part. This book gives you all the ammo you need to pick up women and get slapped in the face here and there, but it’s all in good fun, right?? Women you will have insight as to why guys say some of the trashy, stupid, not-so-classy, awesome things they do when they are drunk or in some cases sober and inspired by this read. It’s a perfect playful book that is sure to give you laughs and “excuse me” comments back. Pick this book up for all the right and wrong reasons.
Cuddle, delightful, ensemble, and sashay… these are just five of the words you will not or should not hear the New York Giants say at any time during training camp or all season. That's because, according to author Michael Gorman, "Real Men Don’t Say Splendid" or any of other words found in this book. This book is a laugh a minute, unmanly vocabulary. Mike Gorman had me in stitches with the way he used every one of the words in a sentence. I kept picturing Coach Coughlin using these words out on the practice field or in film session, knowing full well it would only happen in my imagination. I'd like to suggest that every player on the Giants receive this book in training camp just so they'd know what NOT to say in an interview! Michael Gorman listed 99 words that “should not used in sentence at any time by a man ever", and I'm thinking these are words to live by. I found myself reading through them and unfortunately finding that I use a handful of them when I'm talking to my children. But if I'm talking to a two-year-old, I should get some kind of dispensation, don't you think?!
