Lenovo Joins Forces with VXL to Grow Thin Desktop and Mobile Portfolio

Lenovo (HKSE: 992) (ADR: LNVGY) announced an agreement with VXL Instruments, Ltd. to extend both companies’ product portfolios to provide business customers manageable, secure, flexible and scalable thin client solutions. Beginning immediately, customers worldwide can purchase VXL thin client solutions directly from Lenovo and choose from VXL’s robust portfolio of thin client offerings and extensive list of operating systems. VXL will continue to resell select Lenovo thin ThinkPad laptops, such as the L412 and X100e, with their thin client software.

Whom You Know loves Lenovo and Peachy Deegan is on the Ideapad Z360 right now!  It is totally thin and absolutely the LBD of laptops.  (Little Black Dress...)

Lenovo’s ThinkPad laptops feature extreme durability, extra long battery life and productivity technologies to support today’s mobile worker. The co-branded Lenovo and VXL thin ThinkPad laptops deliver added security and manageability for IT managers by storing all data virtually in the back office versus on the PC desktop itself. IT managers can customize security settings and grant access to applications based on an employee’s department or ID. As a result, the solution offers flexibility and mobility for workers who have previously been tethered to their desks, such as in financial services, insurance, legal and healthcare industries.

“Adding VXL thin clients to our PC and server portfolio gives our customers a one-stop shop for their computing needs," said Peter Schrady, vice president and general manager, Software and Peripherals Business Unit, Lenovo. "Customers in finance and healthcare are increasingly focused on security, and this relationship helps streamline a customer’s thin client and other computing requirements.”

VXL’s thin computing software includes XLmanage, which is available at no additional cost and offers powerful remote management from a single console. VXL virtualization software is customized to deliver an excellent user experience and is compatible with a number of operating systems provided by VXL such as PXE, Sylph-OS, SUSE and GIO2 Linux, XPe, WES and the latest Windows CE 6.0. Lenovo ThinkPad laptops with VXL thin computing software offer seamless integration with backend server systems.

“As pioneers in the thin client space, Lenovo and VXL are creating more choices and making it easier for companies to benefit from alternative computing solutions,” said Frank Noon, vice president, Worldwide Sales, VXL Instruments. “Our commitment to quality coupled with our global footprint ensures customers are never without support for their hardware and software needs.”

The thin ThinkPad laptops are available through VXL sales channels including VXL business partners, and the new VXL thin clients are available through Lenovo sales channels including Lenovo business partners.
