News from Milliners Guild

From our Mover and Shaker Ellen Christine and the Milliner's Guild:

The Milliners Guild presented their S/S 2011 hat collection at the Metropolitan Pavillion during Fashion Week in New York City. Under "The GreenShows", the Guild walked 43 pieces from 21 milliners. To help categorize this much choice in creativity, the hats were divided into three categories: Ready to Wear, Resort, and Avant-Garde.

As a means of furthering the eco cause and to promote hats on the catwalk, the milliners used upcycled, revamped, repurposed materials whenever possible.  Along with the natural and organic materials known to milliners and hatters through the centuries, the Guild members brought in a wild scan of elements not seen before on a runway.

From seashells and coconut fiber to rubber dish gloves and UN feed bags this collection represents the second imaginative collective show from the Milliners Guild.

The driving force behind the Milliners Guild is their mission to design, produce and promote handmade headwear. With all of the energy of New York City at their command, the Milliners produce several events per year, and hope to establish their stronghold on Fashion Week with continued successful shows.
