Nicobella Vegan Dark Chocolate Truffles: American Chocolate Consumption On the Rise Decadent Treat Provides Health Benefits Without Guilt

Analysts have determined that Americans eat 12.31 pounds of chocolate each year. It is forecasted that chocolate consumption will increase to 13.9 pounds by 2010.  As consumers become more focused on their health and wellness, dieters, those concerned about cardiovascular problems, and people interested in the powerful anti-aging effects of high antioxidant foods are becoming more aware of the potential health benefits of dark chocolate. However, many of these treats are high in fat and calorie content.  Peachy Deegan does not really consider fat or calories but she tries to be fairly sensible, and along with Crabcakes at Swifty's, Champagne and Star Vodka, she considers chocolate one of the major four food groups.  So we just had to find out more about Nicobella!

As a result, Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist and yoga instructor, Nichole Dandrea, has created nicobella vegan organic dark chocolate truffles to provide a guilt-free gourmet indulgence for health conscious individuals.  As a first step, Nichole replaced the cream, sugar, and butter found in traditional truffles with healthy vegan ingredients. “We use only high antioxidant 70% dark chocolate to enrobe each truffle,” says Ms. Dandrea. “We then infuse super high antioxidant ingredients such as blueberry, green tea and pumpkin into the center of each truffle.” The resulting treat, which is lightly sweetened with all natural Agave nectar, is a healthy alternative.
nicobella is also a “green” company. The carefully sourced ultra healthy ingredients in their vegan dark chocolate truffles are enrobed in 70% dark organic and Fair Trade Theo Chocolate. Packaging is produced from FSC (Forest Stewardship Certified) materials.

But how do they taste?  We tried the assortment.  Blueberry almond was our favorite; how can you get more creative and delicious?!  We have never seen blueberry in a chocolate before-the people at Nicobella are so smart.  Ginger Green Tea is just perfect for fall, as is Pumpkin Chai.  Pure Cocoa Bliss is the most traditional of the mix and pure quality.  Nuts and chocolate are a regular combination so Walnut Flaxseed crunch is a winner, and the last chocolate to come to the assortment party is Sunflower Banana butter, which was our second favorite.  As you know from previous posts in Peachy's Pantry, Peachy is no vegan and eats a lot of meat.  If vegan treats scare you, get over it.  These are absolutely amazing and you need to try them!
