NIGHTLIGHT: Peachy Deegan Swings by Swifty's to see who is drinking her...Valentino was there for lunch, Wes Anderson was there for dinner...and Mover and Shaker Robert Caravaggi, Host and Proprietor of Swifty's, Chats with Peachy
You know we adore Swifty's. And even though we were fortunate to be part of two wonderful events last night, Peachy Deegan could not help but swing by on her way home to see if anyone was indeed drinking The Peachy Deegan...you know two nights ago Mover and Shakers Linette and Matt Semino were drinking it. We love all the charities we cover, but as time passes we become more and more acutely aware that no matter where we go first, the true Movers and Shakers are at Swifty's.
We hate to say it, but it's true. We're only trying to educate you, especially those of you that are Peachy's age....this is the undiscovered treasure of our generation. Let us tell you the facts:
When Peachy got there, Director Wes Anderson was having dinner. If you have not been there, Swifty's is not a huge place. It is small and intimate and while you are either in the front or the back room, there is not a large variance at all. It is fairly obvious to everyone there who is there.
Peachy was not there for lunch hier midi, as she was writing, but every woman in the world would have liked to have been at Valentino's table yesterday. Valentino began this Swifty's experience with Irish Smoked Salmon sliced expertly by Mover and Shaker and Chef Stephen Attoe, who has a birthday coming up on Saturday November 13th, Happy Birthday Stephen!- joined by capers and a touch of olive oil. Joined by Giancarlo Giametti, Valentino was just experiencing another exquisite meal by the Caravaggi family that is a tradition that predates the birth of Peachy. The salmon was followed by the Classic Paillard of Chicken with Swifty's Slaw and the grand finale was Creme Brulee. For all of our readers that can't easily access the Upper East side from your part of the globe, our heart bleeds for you and our stomach is in even greater sorrow, but you know where to go now that we have told you the next time you are in New York.
"The first time I met Valentino was at Que Vadis, my father's Bruno Caravaggi's restaurant. It was the early 1970's and I was a barboy (bartender's assistant) there. Inbetween getting ice and more bar essentials, I first met both Valentino and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis together. And today, Valentino is the same gracious person. He is truly an icon." said Mover and Shaker Robert Caravaggi, Host and Proprietor of Swifty's. "And Mrs.Onassis was a gracious lady, a most engaging and charming person. Many would look at her with great awe, yet she was nice and down to earth always."
Peachy Deegan would do anything to have lunch with Jackie there....Valentino, if you are reading this and you can find a spot in your heart for one more girl that went to Farmington, please order The Peachy Deegan made with Star Vodka the next time you find yourself at Swifty's! We think you will love it and we hope it makes you feel at least half as amazing as every woman feels in your fabulous designs.
