READ THIS: AMERICA: THE MAKING OF A NATION Written by Charlie Samuels

When I saw the America:The Making of a Nation book, I automatically fell in love with it!  My students know that I crave knowledge about America's rich past.  This book was right up my alley.  I also loved that it was interactive.  Each page had something you could lift and learn even more.  When I did a bit more research about this book before presenting it to my class, I came across the website http://www.lbkidsbooks.net/america/.  As I scrolled to the bottom, I saw where you could vote to help donate books to kids.  This really impressed me and I checked it out.  I took the poll and submitted my votes to donate a book.  I plan to have my students do this as an assignment.  I can't stress enough to them about the importance of helping others as well as learning about our great nation.

America, The Making of a Nation is an outstanding book!  The reader is taken on a journey spanning from the birth of our nation through current, 21st century, events.  This book is beautifully laid out and is extremely engaging.  The artwork is stunning and the interactive aspect of the book makes it such an interesting read.  I have always found history to be captivating, but this book will even appeal to those who are less than enthusiastic about the topic.  Although this book is not lengthy, it is chock full of information.  Each and every page offers so much information and there is even more detail to be found under flaps, in pull outs, inserts, song lyrics, etc.!  For a young reader (or any reader for that matter), the interactive aspect of this book makes learning about the history of our country fun and interesting. America, The Making of a Nation is a great read for anyone, young or old!  Perhaps the most awesome part is saved for the very end...a foldout replica of the Declaration of Independence!

“America: The Making of a Nation” is a wonderful way to create a little patriot in your home. It is so engaging with breathtaking photos staring with the first page. I am so proud to be an American and this book amplifies those feelings. This book will help children to get excited about American History with its “lift the flap” information and easy to understand timelines. Totally interactive, both I and my daughter were anxiously turning the pages to learn more. You can see the great emotion from the author and pride he has in the history of a country in making. Truthfully this is one of the best produced books around and a great value. “America: The Making of a Nation” is a treasure for all and one-of-a-kind! Make sure to order several copies as you will want to share it with friends and family!
