LAKEVILLE, Conn. (Nov. 1) – Lime Rock Park, the historic 1.5-mile road racing circuit in northwest Connecticut, has published its 2011 major event race schedule. Notable is the addition of a new event, a set of Ferrari Challenge races, which brings the total number of major spectator events to six.

1. Grand-Am Daytona Prototypes, Memorial Day weekend, May 27-30
The traditional season-opener remains the Grand-Am Memorial Day race weekend, with the Continental Tire Grand Sports and Street Tuner races on Saturday, May 28, and the Rolex Daytona Prototype and GT race on Monday, May 30. Support races TBA.
2. American Le Mans Series, July 8-9
Year eight of the American Le Mans Series at Lime Rock Park, the ALMS Northeast Grand Prix will see Le Mans Prototype (LMP), Le Mans Prototype Challenge (LMPC), Grand Touring (GT) and Grand Touring Challenge (GTC) on Saturday, July 9 for its traditional two hour and 45 minute race. Support races TBA.
3. Ferrari Challenge, July 30
Back by popular demand after a four-year hiatus, the Ferrari Challenge races grace Lime Rock Park once again. Two races on Saturday: one for the F430 cars and the other for the all-new 458 Italia.
4. Historic Festival 29 & “Sunday in the Park” Concours, Labor Day weekend, Sept. 2-5
The East Coast’s vintage racing highlight of 2011. On tap: Sprint races for 10 groups, a pre-WWII race group, Formula Atlantic/Formula 2 races and more than 100 MGs (Historic Festival 29 is the MG Club’s “Focus Event” for 2011). Big presence from Jaguar; 50th anniversary of the E-Type and the 60th of Jag’s first win at Le Mans. Honored Collector will be Philadelphia neurosurgeon Dr. Frederick Simeone, who has a stable of significant cars ready for the Sunday Concours.
5. NASCAR Modifieds, Sept. 16-17
The wild success of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race at Lime Rock in 2010 made it easy to ask the series back for 2011. Lime Rock also moved the NASCAR weekend back to its traditional early fall date. Support races TBA.
6. SCCA NARRC Run-offs, Oct. 1
The NARRC Run-off is the SCCA Region’s biggest race weekend at Lime Rock.
