We began testing Swany just as summer ended, and we firmly believe they are the best makers of gloves anywhere.  As it gets colder and colder the brilliant people of Swany keep finding superior solutions for keeping our hands warm.  Every model impresses us and the XC-1 Scandi Gloves are absolutely no exception.  Unisex, this model was tested by both the women and men of Whom You Know.

The women say:

With most of the country under an arctic blast these past few days, I'm sure more than a few of us are using our ski gloves for more than just skiing or snowsports.  Having hands that are quite susceptible to the cold, I'm definitely guilty as charged.  My old pair, while functional, looks like gorilla paws and are not the least bit feminine or graceful looking.  They're just that, functional.  Hence, I was delighted to come across Swany's XC-1 Scandi Glove. This is a pair of lightweight and thin thermo foam insulated gloves that are made for a woman's hands (no gorilla-pawed look here).  They come in 3 different sizes and the small fits my small-ish and short-fingered hands just fine.  The padding is very lightly-lined but provides more than ample warmth in the cold.  The silver-toned printed gel inlays on the palm and back of hand give them a sporty look that's also very functional, there's no slippage.  This is a pair of gloves you can dress down to wear with your sporty winter gear, as well as pair with your dressier wool coats without it detracting from that more dressed-up look.  I have a feeling this pair of gloves will be my constant go-to this winter!

Swany Gloves does it again!  Bringing you the ultimate in performance matched with sporty good looks is the forte of this brand. When you think of your hands and outdoor sports/activities, the only brand that should enter your brain is Swany.  And I was a 12 letter varsity athlete in prep school with Peachy so I should know... And they have a specialty glove for every possible sport. And let me tell you, you can never have too many. The Swany “Scandi” (xc-1) glove has been expertly constructed for Cross Country Skiing/Nordic or extreme snowshoeing. With a gel padded palm, you can push on your poles harder to get everything you can out of each stride. At the same time your hands feel great and allow you to improve your endurance and feel the high! So light weight they feel like second skin and have a cool silver double stripe giving it an extreme sporty look.  Take it to the next level with the help of Swany!

The Swany XC-1 Scandi Gloves were a great help on our recent trip to the Christmas tree farm.  It's not that cold, yet, in Georgia.  But a girl still needs protection from the elements, when it's a windy 50 degrees outside.  The first thing I appreciated about these gloves was the gel printed grips on the palm.  Most fitted gloves are too slippery to be very functional, if there's something you actually need to grip, while wearing them.  The fit was comfortable, and it was nice to enjoy the warmth of a ski glove without the bulk.  Fitted, without being constricting, the Swani gloves allowed me to still wear my regular jewelry underneath, as well.  The knitted cuff easily stretched over the ends of my sleeves, for added wind protection.  But the soft knit made them comfortable enough to have against my skin.  I highly receommend the Swani XC-1 Scandi Gloves for any outdoor activity this winter.

The men say:

I recently tried on the Xc-1 Scandi gloves. Comfortable! That was my first reaction to putting them on.  Warm and snuggly would also be used to describle how they felt. Since I plan on going skiing this winter  I feel that the scandi glove would be an exellent choice to cover my fingers. There soft shell and reinforeced thumb are fantastic for versatility and flexibility. This can be the case whether you are skiing or mountain cycling.  The key however to these gloves maybe in their thermofoam and micro bemberg lining. Another fantastic feature which helps especially during ski season is the knit cuff. Overall I would give the xc-1 scandi gloves two thumbs up!

Swany Scandi performance gloves are great for anyone who needs warmth and protection from the cold winter elements.  The gloves are especially suitable for people who participate in winter sports like skiing and snowshoeing.  These gloves have a thin and lightweight design that allows the wearer better use of their hands.  Also, the gel printed palm allows for a better grip on ski polls or whatever else you need to hold on to!  The knit cuff hugs the wrist to keep snow out and keep warmth in.  This really comes in handy when playing around in the snow!  The thermo foam with micro bemberg lining is sure to keep your hands warm even in the coldest of temperatures.  The gloves also do a great job of keeping each finger warm and toasty.  Finally, the black coloring and silver stripes go well with almost any winter gear.  If you are looking to keep warm while working or playing outside this winter season, definitely check out a pair of Swany Scandi gloves!

The XC-1 Scandi Gloves by Swany blow me away.  Every pair I try I love more than the next, and their talent to make models that are perfect for specific temperatures is so key to getting through the winter in Manhattan.  This model is appropriate for the weather we're having right now.  They are thin enough so you can maneuver your hands.  The gripping is superior and the branding people on this design team are brilliant.  The Swany name is clearly displayed in strategic places on the gloves, but not in an overly big, tacky way that other brands can do.  One of my co-workers has bought this pair since he saw me wearing them.  These are not bulky and you could comfortably ski in these.  In the frigid temperatures we have now these are surprisingly warm despite their lack of bulkiness.  My hands don't sweat in these at all and there is no moisture build-up that you can encounter with lesser brands.  I want to see these on Shop with Peachy!

History of Swany:

Yesterday

From different sides of the world, two glove manufactures met by chance, thus launching a partnership that would give new shape to the snow and sport glove industry.

Our story begins back in 1895 when Elmer Little & Sons, a family run company located in the small upstate New York town of Gloversville, began specializing in upscale dress and casual glove production. Generations later, a well-known Elmer Little & Sons set out to create an overseas manufacturing operation. Impressed with the Japanese commitment to hard work, product quality and fair business dealings, Elmer Little began production in Gotembu, Japan in 1958.

Meanwhile, Swany Japan was an emerging leader as a dress and causal glove manufacturer in Japan. Swany Japan, seeking a venture of their own, created Swany America in 1980, which quickly gained respect and popularity among manufacturing peers in the US.

As this story goes, Swany America joined forces and acquired Elmer Little & Sons in 1987. Not long after, Swany was the first in the snow and sport industry to introduce the Flexor- a glove created from space age technologies. We use the same design that folks at NASA use in their space programs. Another proud accomplishment was the acquisition of the Hotfingers name, a brand that combines the latest hi-tech materials with a great value.

This was the beginning of the high performance sport glove program known around the world today as Swany.
