Consolo & Aquino Bring High Scents to the High Line
The preeminent leasing team of Faith Hope Consolo, Chairman, and Joseph Aquino, Executive Vice President of Prudential Douglas Elliman's Retail Group has arranged another location for Bond No. 9, this time in Meatpacking at 863 Washington Street, between 13th and 14th Streets, near the edge of the High Line, where it will be surrounded by such neighboring businesses as Diane Von Furstenberg Studio, Scoop, Urban Outfitters, Helmut Lang, The Apple Store and Jeffrey New York.
The new store represents the fifth New York City location orchestrated by Ms. Consolo and Mr. Aquino as the luxury perfumer's exclusive representatives. Over the years, the team has helped the brand open two prominent shops along Madison Avenue, one on Bleecker Street and its famously eponymous flagship at 9 Bond Street in NoHo.
"This latest location is especially significant because the company has been a major supporter of the High Line since inception," pointed out Ms. Consolo. "Last spring, Bond No. 9 even introduced an exciting fragrance named for the High Line, so it was very important for us to secure the right 'home' for the collection."
Added Mr. Aquino, "A brand this unique needs to be in places where people seek out unconventional luxury. Our first store with Bond No. 9 was in NoHo, which placed it in the center of fashion forward shoppers. The High Line was an obvious choice for a new location."
The renowned fragrance collection, which launched in 1989, features 40 distinct fragrances named after iconic New York locales, such as Chinatown, Washington Square and Fifth Avenue. In 2010, the exclusive brand won two of the fragrance industry's coveted FiFi Awards, one for its sensual women’s fragrance, Astor Place, and the other for its popular men’s scent, Brooklyn.
Bond No. 9 shops are known for their distinctive decors highlighted by vibrant colors and rows of whimsically shaped bottles. In New York City, the collection is also featured at Saks Fifth Avenue. In London, it may be found at Harvey Nichols and Harrod's.
Ms. Consolo and Mr. Aquino have been leading retail consultants in downtown Manhattan for more than two decades. Among Meatpacking's earliest pioneers, they have been instrumental in defining its retail landscape with such seminal and well-established stores as Jeffrey (449 West 14th Street), Iris (827 Washington Street), Christian Louboutin (59 Horatio Street) and more recently Ports 1961 (3 Ninth Avenue).
The landlord was represented by Grubb and Ellis Company.
