MIAMI BEACH INTERNATIONAL FASHION WEEK HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE SOME 56 DESIGNERS FROM 22 COUNTRIES AND RESULTS FOR EMERGING INTERNATIONAL DESIGNER COMPETITION
Announcing the 13th Annual Miami Beach International Fashion Week™ (MBIFW), the largest Latin American and international fashion event in the United States. Presented by Moroccanoil, the newly rebranded production will take place March 3 - 6, 2011 at the Miami Beach Convention Center Hall A. The venue will be transformed into a state of the art "Fashion City" built to house all fashion shows, exhibitions and sponsor lounges as the world's fashion elite flock to Miami Beach to participate in this world class event.
MBIFW offers an array of story opportunities involving emerging fashion trends, musical artists, celebrity sightings, exciting cuisine, South Florida tourism, and international business. For example, the winners of the 4th annual Emerging Designer Competition will be announced. One finalist will be named International Emerging Designer of the Year.
“Every year, MBIFW consistently brings the best in international and Latin fashion, beauty, music, cuisine and art to the forefront of the American fashion scene,” said Beth Sobol, President of Miami Beach International Fashion Week. “We anticipate more than 600 members of press from almost every corner of the globe in attendance.”
Sobol said reporters would have greater access this year, as journalists are invited to attend exclusive media conferences to meet and interview designers showing each night.
MBIFW would also add a new element in 2011 - a bridal component with a fashion show and pavilion of “wedding necessities” to help promote Miami and the Beach as a wedding destination.
With a crossover of international cultures from around the world including Spain, India, Italy, Canada, Malaysia, Pakistan, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, Australia, Eastern Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico and all countries throughout South and Central America, designers will present their latest collections in women's day and evening wear, men's wear, swimwear, jewelry and accessories with hundreds of international media, jet-setters and fashion royalty arriving to attend the shows. In fact, last year’s production featured 58 talented designers from 22 countries.
MBIFW closes with the Miami Moda & Music Awards®, a celebrity fashion and entertainment awards show featuring special guest designers, awards for fashion week participants, and international recording artists.
The Culinary Arts Café sponsored by Whole Foods Market, Stella Artois, A Joy Wallace Catering and Johnson & Wales University will feature a different celebrity chef each night preparing a fashionable tasting menu reflecting the countries and cultures of the designers showing during the event. Each course will be accompanied with a different wine pairing to further compliment the dish.
