The Petite Peachy Panel put on their best Red Baron outfit, and said after reading this:

Amazing Airplanes is THE book right now, in our house.  Our seven year old son immediately latched onto this incredible gift.  Not only does he get to learn particular facts about all of these planes, but he gets to build them.    Each section of the book includes the history of a particular airplane, some interesting facts about it, a comic strip story, as well as parts and instructions for building one's own model of the plane.  The book is way too dense to complete in a night, but that is what makes it such a great edition to the library.  Each night, we can discover a new airplane, read about its design and some fun bit of trivia, and then top it off by building our own cardboard version.  We have even launched these models from the second-story staircase, and they have survived to fly again...unbelievable!  If there were anything negative to say about Amazing Airplanes, it would be that it delays the actual "going to sleep" part of bedtime, as the child's attention is absolutely focused on the plane he just made.  This is the perfect book for the child who has an enthusiasm for the "wild blue yonder."

Even my husband got excited when the Amazing Airplanes book arrived by Silver Dollar Press. Not only do you and your child get to learn about five different planes. You get to build foam gliders of each of them as well. For example, you learn the history of the Gee Bee plane and the long distance flying cargo plane, the Northrop Gamma. The graphics are fun and the writing is inviting and intriguing. I would recommend this to multiple age children and adults. However, I feel this is a better fit for boys although girls should not be left out. Then they take it to the next level by letting you explore and build your own version. This helped keep the attention  of my child and added even more fun to the equation!

"I'm excited!", said my son as I took out the first plane and began to assemble it.  To tell the truth, I was excited too!  This is a really interesting, engaging book.  The pages are filled with historical information, diagrams, historical photos and comic strips.  Additionally, there are five featured planes, tucked in convenient flaps on each page, waiting to be assembled.  This book is wonderful for children who are tactile/kinesthetic learners!  The planes are made of a fairly sturdy foam and are very easy to assemble.  My son and I had a wonderful time putting them together and consequently having our own little air show!  This book offers a very creative way to teach children about flight while keeping them engaged!
