READ THIS: American by Heart by Sarah Palin

Whether or not you personally like Sarah Palin, or whether you agree with her politics or not, you have to agree that she is one that sticks to her guns, says what she means and doesn't waffle, which we can't say for everyone we see in politics today.  Whom You Know applauds patriotism, and that is one reason why we loved this book.  Whom You Know is not politically active, and on Peachy Deegan's facebook page, you'll see that her political view is crabcakes at Swifty's.

At Whom You Know, we identify excellence and we have been told by many that our philosophy and what we write about and how we write about it sets us apart, and we are different.  America as a country in terms of its history and values also is in a class by itself.  And of course as you know, we are the only country founded based on the concept of freedom.  And this is what Sarah Palin, in America by Heart, is preaching the gospel of.  No one wants to be an ATM machine to the government- we think everyone would agree with that.  The chapter on the rise of the Mama Grizzlies was particularly excellent and we agree that successful conservative women leaders are not a new phenomenon.  In fact, Peachy Deegan's first job ever was on Capitol Hill for Congresswoman Nancy Johnson (R-CT) who was an incumbent for many years...on page 132 Palin applauds Margaret Thatcher and this was well done.  And she had a great quote on sports:

Don't make up your mind one way or another on Sarah Palin.  She may be portrayed by many to be a polarizing figure, but when you read what she has to say herself, you may be surprised or even enlightened.  If you think she is all about being conservative, wait until you get to the part where she is quoting JFK and praising the attitude America had when the nation feared neither hard work nor failure.  If you totally disagree with Sarah, you will at least find this highly thought provoking.  Whom You Know Recommends American By Heart by Sarah Palin.

Previously, we reviewed "Going Rogue":

In the fall of 2009, with the publication of her #1 national bestselling memoir GOING ROGUE, Sarah Palin had the privilege of meeting thousands of everyday Americans on her monumental book tour. Inspired by these encounters, her new book, AMERICA BY HEART: Reflections on Family, Faith, and Flag (Harper, Nov. 23, 2010, $25.99), celebrates the enduring strengths and virtues that have made this country great.

AMERICA BY HEART is a personal testament to Sarah Palin’s deep love of country, her strong roots in faith, and her profound appreciation of family. Written in her own refreshingly candid voice, the book includes brief selections from classic and contemporary readings that have moved and inspired her, as well as Americans, both famous and obscure, whom she admires. Ranging widely over American history, culture, and current affairs, Governor Palin reflects on the key values that have been such an essential part of her own life and that continue to inform her vision of America’s future.
