VASELINE EMBARKS ON MISSION TO RESCUE DRY SKIN Vaseline Dry Skin Patrol Takes on Country’s Harshest Winter Activities for Skin

It's January in Manhattan and we hope you are protecting your skin.  We look high and low for products that work, and Vaseline has a line that's a staple in every person's arsenal against flaky skin.  Dry skin sufferers know what a toll itchy, flaky skin can take on their daily lives. Seventy-seven percent of women who suffer from dry skin say it makes them physically uncomfortable and more than half (53%) say they think about their dry skin every day. In fact, dry skin is even preventing women from doing the things they love, with nearly 40% reporting it makes activities they like less enjoyable* – especially cold weather ones! That is why Vaseline Intensive Rescue, a line of highly therapeutic body lotions, is on a mission to rescue dry skin and make every day a good skin day for people nationwide. The brand is sending the Dry Skin Patrol, a team of real women who know what it’s like to have dry skin, on the road to put their skin and the lotion to the test at some of the country’s harshest winter activities for skin. Award-winning actress and star on TV Land’s Hot in Cleveland Wendie Malick will serve as the team’s leader as they take on each challenge.

Joining the Dry Skin Patrol are Kari Elle Aceto (Green Valley Lake, CA), Kailani Okamoto (Ewa Beach, HI) and Michelle Lee (Ashville, NC) - all real women who Vaseline found blogging about their dry skin online. Vaseline sent them product and rescued their dry skin and now has rallied the group to become ambassadors for their mission to deliver one million good skin days** by the end of the winter season. The Dry Skin Patrol members will get face-to-face with some pretty brutal dry-skin torture tests in some of America’s driest, coldest, and itchiest places including:

:
The Philadelphia Marathon (November 21, 2010) – The team will see what it’s like to take on one of the country’s biggest annual running winter events of the year.
Aspen Winternational (November 27-28) – It’s a slippery slope in Aspen, where the women of the Dry Skin Patrol will see how their skin holds up as they take on the snow in the cold brisk air of Colorado.
Coney Island Polar Bear Plunge (January 1, 2011) – See whose skin can brave the frigid waters the longest as the ladies take the icy cold plunge into the Atlantic with the oldest winter bathing organization in the U.S.
Beargrease Dogsled Marathon, Duluth, MN (January 29, 2011) – Mush, mush! The dry skin patrol takes to the sled. They will learn the ropes from expert sled teams and participate in an exhibition before the race begins.

Patrol member Michelle Lee has never been skiing. Will she be able to handle the slopes of of Aspen? Kailani cannot swim. How will she handle the freezing cold water of the Polar Bear Plunge? Kari is used to running her home—not running through cold city streets! How will she handle the Philadelphia Marathon? Find out by visiting the Vaseline Facebook page (www.facebook.com/vaseline) and tuning into the video series chronicling their adventures on the road. You can also put your own skin to the test by entering to win a trip to one of the destinations visited by the team.

The series will be hosted by actress Wendie Malick, who was compelled to join the mission because of her own experience with dry skin. “I grew up near Buffalo, so I know what cold winter weather can do to your skin. As women get older, our skin gets more dry which definitely has an effect on how we feel each day,” says Malick. “This team is on a mission and nothing will stop them come rain, nor sleet, nor snow! I’m up for the challenge and ready to strap on my skis in Aspen and do my part to conquer dry skin, one sufferer at a time!”

At each event, Vaseline will rescue dry skin by giving out free samples and offering skincare advice. Dr. Jessica Wu, dermatologist to the stars and for Everydayhealth.com, will join the team in Aspen and Coney Island and share her skincare tips and advice.

The Vaseline Facebook page will also feature profiles of the Dry Skin Patrol members, a forum where dry skin sufferers can submit questions to the team, the ability to rescue a friend from dry skin by sending a virtual gift and a link to request a free sample. All samples distributed will count towards Vaseline’s goal of delivering 1 million good skin days this winter season.
