AFTER 696 HOURS OF SEBRING-
2011 EDITION COULD BE BEST EVER!
Since 1952, Sebring has hosted 696 hours of racing, with over three million competition miles recorded on the famous Florida circuit that originated from a WWII B-17 training base.
But this year will be something special. There will be a plethora of new machinery debuting at Sebring for the 59th running of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh from Florida, which takes the green flag on Saturday, March 19. Seldom has Sebring seen such an influx of news cars to kick-off the 2011 American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón and the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup.
In the prototype classes, defending Sebring champion Peugeot has a new car, as does Aston Martin. New Nissan and Honda powered prototypes will be on the grid as well, along with cars that have never raced at Sebring before, such as Oak Racing's Judd-powered Pescarolo entries and the Rebellion Toyota.
In the GT class, the new Ferrari F458 Italia will make its competition debut, as will several new Porsches. They will battle Corvette, BMW, Ford, Aston Martin, Jaguar and Panoz in a breathtaking field of GT cars.
A grid of 58 cars is expected to start America's greatest sports car race. Gates open at 6am Wednesday, March 16, and remain open 24 hours a day through Saturday. For ticket information, visitsebringraceway.com.
