Champagne Wishes: Valdo Nerello Mascalese Brut Rose from Pasternak Wines Highly Recommended by Whom You Know
THE VINEYARD
Valdo’s Philosophy: “Prosecco” is the distinguishing factor on the regional level- refined aromas, balance and overall quality are the key features Valdo focuses on to produce unique and unrivalled products. Valdo was started in 1926 by the Societa Anonima Vini Superiori & purchased by The Bolla Family in the 1940’s. Over 80 years of continuous innovation with an ongoing quest for quality and devotion to respecting the vineyards & wine-making traditions of the region. The Spumante Rosé is created from the perfect blend of two typical Italian vines, the Sicilian black berry Nerello Mascalese, from Sambuca Sicily in the province of Argiento which is 300 meters above sea level, and Prosecco, the fruity grapes from the Veneto region at 80 meters above sea level. The vineyard that grows the Nerello Mascalese has clay and limestone soil and the Prosecco vineyard is alluvial clay.
HARVEST & AGEING
Harvest takes place during the end of August and the first half of September. After the grapes are selected there is a soft pressing of red grapes which are not left in contact with the skins for maceration. The wine goes through the Charmat method for 3 months in steel tanks.
WINEMAKER’S NOTES
The color is like scarlet brush strokes on rose petals. The bouquet has fine and elegant blossoms, with a consistent presence of raspberry. The palate has a tickling fine perlage of minute bubbles; pleasant round warm flavor with a charming fruity aroma. The whirlwind of sensations generated by this excellent Rosé wine from the Valdo expertise, is pure delight.

Valdo Nerello Mascalese Brut Rose is an excellent sparkling wine. It's extremely vibrant and bubbly! With so many choices for sparkling wine, I rarely go for a rose. However, I am glad I tried this one! Valdo Nerello Mascalese was my exception! It's the perfect accompaniment to a leisurely weekend brunch. Because of its dry finish, it pairs well with light savory fare. It also has a light and crisp texture. I even tasted a hint of apple and pear. I have to say I just love the color! The wine's rosy hue is a decorative alternative to the classic pale yellow of most other sparkling wines. Not to mention, it's the perfect color for countless special occasions - especially Valentine's Day! This Italian sparkling wine is truly one of a kind! Treat you and your special someone to a bottle of Valdo Nerello Mascalese! You won't regret it!
Italian sparkling wines have grabbed a lot of the bubbly market share over the past two years. They are a great and inexpensive alternative to French Champagnes. There are far more options to choose from and the quality has gotten better and better. Valdo Nerello Mascalese Brut Rose is one of those great alternatives. The bottle makes a great statement with its perfectly pink tones and its elegant pink and gold wrap and label. It certainly looks more expensive then it is at around $15.99 a bottle. But now let’s see if the taste can match up. So I popped the cork and prepared myself for the test. Truly delicious. So get ready for your taste buds to be tantalized. The playful bubbles enhanced the flavor and added quite a bit of whimsy. The red berries pack just the right amount of flavor with each sip I took. The best part is that the Brut Rose is not overly sweet. Many different Italian sparkling wines loose me immediately because they are like drinking a desert which is not what I prefer in a bubbly. However, the Valdo give just the right hint of berry in both flavor and aroma.
Tonight I surprised my sweetheart with a bottle of Valdo Nerello Mascalese Brut Rose from Pasternak Wines. After camping in the woods for a week, during National Guard duty, the last thing he expected was the luxurious homecoming he received. This gorgeous wine awaited him, in a silver champagne chiller, along with a platter of homemade chocolate covered strawberries. That is the perfect pairing, by the way. This sparkling wine is superb alone, and I enjoyed the first glass immensely. But, paired with the chocolate and strawberries, this sparkler took on a completely new level of excellence. Do not be fooled by the rosy pink color. This is not your grandparents sticky sweet $5 Zinfandel. This is a rose, but it is a brut rose. In my opinion, it' s the best of both worlds. This bottle is sure to please the dry wine lover, as well as those who crave a little sweetness in their wine. Not sure what your Valentine's Day date prefers? Go for the Valdo Nerello Mascalese Brut Rose. Coming in under $20, it is a great choice to add a bubbly flair, without breaking the bank. So, treat your flame to this little pink treat, and see where the night will take you both.
The Valdo Nerello Mascalese Brut Rose is a smooth sparkling wine with a beautifully vibrant pinkish-reddish color. The Brut Rose opens with a mild strawberry bouquet, charismatic aromas of fresh berries and rasberries. There's a hint of subtle sweetness at the end of every sip. The tiny and livey bubbles make it an excellent choice paired with fruit or any rich dessert. This deliciously crisp bubbly is the perfect sparkling wine choice to celebrate Valentine's with girlfriends or a significant other. Highly recommend, the Valdo Brut Rose, with it's aromatic scent and rich rosey color should most definitely be at the top of anyone's go to holiday champagne.
When I tried the Valdo Nerello Mascalese Brut Rose, I immediately loved it. Peachy Deegan has never been wrong about wines I should try! I had tried a brut rose before, and wasn't impressed. I was glad I tried this one. I liked that it had a light, sweet taste to it. The other brut rose I tried was too dry for my taste. Because the weather is so cold out, by the time I got home, this wine was already cold. I enjoyed it chilled. I have several friends that I think would love this wine and I immediately started texting and messaging them to tell them about Valdo Nerello Mascalese Brut Rose. This is one that I plan on taking with me when my friends plan a get together. This is one wine that I know I'll have to keep stocked in my wine cabinet for a rainy day. I am so glad I went out of my comfort zone to try this wine. If I hadn't, I would've missed out on a great wine. I highly recommend it! It would also make a wonderful wine to serve with a romantic Valentine's dinner.
