CLINTON GLOBAL INITIATIVE'S U.S. CHILDHOOD OBESITY PREVENTION PROGRAM SELECTED AS BENEFICIARY OF 100WHF's NY GALA
100 Women in Hedge Funds ("100WHF"), a leading non-profit organization for professionals in the alternatives industry, has named the Clinton Global Initiative’s ("CGI") U.S. Childhood Obesity Prevention program as the beneficiary of its annual New York Gala to be held at Cipriani 42nd Street on November 16, 2011, in addition to other fundraisers held in the U.S. during the year.
Commenting on the announcement, Sonia E. Gardner, Chair of the 10th Anniversary Committee and Board member of 100WHF, said: "We are honored that President Bill Clinton will attend the 10th Anniversary New York Gala to personally accept 100WHF's donation on behalf of the Clinton Global Initiative. 100WHF's philanthropic mission is to leverage its collective abilities and expertise in order to give back to the community, and we are thrilled to partner with an organization on our 10th Anniversary that has done and continues to do so much in the prevention of childhood obesity in the U.S. We hope that the funds raised at the New York Gala and other 100WHF events this year will significantly improve the lives of the many young people in this country threatened by this prevalent condition."
The Clinton Global Initiative convenes global leaders to devise and implement innovative solutions to some of the world's most pressing challenges. Since 2005, CGI members have made nearly 2,000 commitments, which have improved the lives of 300 million people in more than 170 countries. When fully funded and implemented, these commitments will be valued in excess of $63 billion. In the U.S., President Clinton works to combat childhood obesity - one of America's leading public health threats - through the Alliance for a Healthier Generation. A non-profit organization founded by the American Heart Association and William J. Clinton Foundation, the Alliance works to positively affect the places that can influence a child's health: homes, schools, doctor's offices and communities.

Each year, 100WHF's Board of Directors selects a charitable organization in the U.S. and Europe for its philanthropic initiatives. Organizations are chosen on a rotating basis from one of 100WHF's three core pillars: women and family health, peer leverage (mentoring) and education. The philanthropic theme for 2011 is family health.
