Whom You Know could not be more pleased to kick off our coverage of an outstanding men's brand: Oliver Sweeney! With a name like Whom You Know, you know we worship the English language and now we worship English shoes too! We admire Oliver's entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to excellence, and we're highly recommending the Serlio Brown Batisfera by Oliver Sweeney! Inspired by the military with 7-eyelets and toe cap, the Serlio Brown Batisfera also features the rubber thumbprint sole. Keep it casual or dress it up for the Victorian Dandy in you! Our panelist raved: I am about the pickiest person that Peachy knows so I earned a spot on this panel since we have heard amazing things about Oliver Sweeney from across the pond. This is my first experience with this brand and I must say on a scale of one to ten with ten being the best, this pair is at least a ten. I may just stop wearing any other pair of shoes I've tested in favor of these. The workmanship is extraordinary, the leather is of the utmost quality, and this is a brand that is going to make its mark on America. I can attest to the fact that the Anatomical Last is superior, and you will be able to See Manhattan on Your Feet for hours in these. Perhaps London too! I can't speak for that since I'm American, but I know they are regulars on the red carpet at the BRITs and the BAFTAs. I can't wait to see what other standout styles emerge from Oliver Sweeney. If you want to be blessed with style, comfort and unparalleled excellence, look no further! Oliver Sweeney is where it's at. Here is where they are in London:http://www.oliversweeney.com/store_locator/ At Whom You Know we look forward to giving you the play-by-play action as Oliver Sweeney hits it big in the USA!!!! *** Oliver Sweeney came from uncompromising beginnings and from a young age yearned for something great. He ran away to London at the age of 15 where he stumbled across a bespoke shoe makers, introducing himself to the managing director who gave him a job on the spot. In 1989 Oliver launched his own business based on the ‘Anatomical Last™’. A unique design, created after years of intensive research. It is sculpted to give support to the arch, the instep points to the big toe, like the real foot. A gentle twist through its length simulates the natural shape of the foot, and helps reduce rolling to the outside of the foot. Shortly afterwards in 1990 Harrods offered him a concession; Oliver worked on the shop floor. Three years later Oliver left Harrods to open a concession within Harvey Nichols. In 2000 Oliver opened his first standalone store and his retail portfolio grew from there. In 2003 Oliver launched the iconic and radical Chelsea shoe that really established his position in the footwear market. At this time Oliver caught the eye of Dylan Jones and the two created ground breaking stingray shoe named ‘The GQ Shoe’ and sold a limited range of 100 pairs. 2005 saw many popular shoes like Venice and Ravioli which are still available today. Over the years Oliver has used a range of interesting skins and colours to establish a quirky take on formal shoes. Limited edition products have also been a popular feature, more information on these are below in the specials section. http://www.oliversweeney.com |
