Terrific Takeout: Crowe's Nest
It is terribly fun to break the rules, especially on Friday's, and we're going to start by doing it with the fabulous Chocolate Cake by Crowe's Nest. Peachy Deegan is of course Irish and is on a mission to tell the world that there are Irish places in Manhattan where the food is wonderful and a far cry from what she found as a student at UCC in Cork-then she nearly lived on Tangle Twisters-which are like Good Humor ice creams of cream, pear and strawberry. This chocolate fudge will melt in your mouth and the cream that compliments it is divine. If you are as naughty as Peachy you will eat it first!
Then you may feel a bit guilty so you'll have the lovely salad. We ordered the Classic Caesar salad which was exactly as you'd expect a good Caesar salad to be. Peachy asked for tomatoes to be added and dressing on the side and Crowe's Nest happily complied.
The winner of the menu at Crowe's Nest is the Chicken Cordon Bleu-chicken breast baked with ham and swiss cheese! This is not an easy dish to get right-it was rich and flavorful and a nice something-different in our Terrific Takeout lineup. Also it is a lovely comfort food for winter, which sadly, is not close to being over. We shudder to think at how bundled up we must be for fashion week and still try to look fashionable-but at least our dinner looks good!
And, the people at Crowe's Nest are so smart-as the Chicken Cordon Bleu is on the heavier side, it is nicely balanced out by some seasonal vegetables which were fresh, crisp and delicious and totally wiped away any lingering guilt about eating that chocolate cake first.
Whom You Know says Crowe's Nest is Terrific Takeout!
