Terrific Takeout: Marche du Sud
Oooh la la Mademoiselle Peachy loves France and putting a Chandelier or two close to the window is a surefire way to get her to pay attention to a restaurant. You know she just loves Chandeliers-see Chandelier Peachy....Marche du Sud is a new hot spot on the Upper East Side that is just perfect for your petit dejeuner but even better for dinner. You know we don't review breakfast Peachy is too busy working! The latest from the fab trio of Bistro 61, Marche du Sud is led by Chef Anthony Raggiri, whom Peachy Deegan met. We started with the La Salade Marche du Sud which is a signature of theirs-and it is a winner with Goat Cheese Fritters (not pictured as Peachy has zero affinity for goat cheese), figs (delicious! like candy in a salad!), candied walnuts (wouldn't Dr. Oz be pleased), julienne of romaine, shaved organic apple with a lavender honey vinaigrette:
The Filet de Grouper en Bouillabaisse was an absolute dream for seafood lovers in the winter. Baked to perfection, this grouper was substantial yet had a gracious texture. It bathed in the exquisite bouillabaisse and was surrounded by lovely clams, mussels and assorted vegetables. Anthony is quite the chef and we imagine this must be one of the greatest hits for dinner at Marche du Sud.
The raspberry tarte was just about the freshest tarte we've had in recent times and it even came with a container of cream on the side. Garnished with fresh raspberries, strawberries and blueberries too, this is the difference between getting a B+ on a Tarte and an A. This is an A. And look they even put something green in to convince Irish Peachy to eat it. Obviously, that's mint!
The cuisine at Marche du Sud is so thoughtful, detail-oriented, delicious and inspirationally French it is going to motivate you to pick up your dog-eared copies of Moliere from back in your school days.
