Champagne Wishes: Les Deux Rives Corbieres Blanc 2009 Highly Recommended By Whom You Know

THE VINEYARD
The vast vineyard of Corbières stretches along the beautiful Mediterranean Coast of France, from the ancient Roman Capitol of Narbonne to the Pyrenees Mountains. Les Deux Rives is a blend of wines from the best vineyards of the Val d'Orbieu, the most acclaimed wine company in the Languedoc region of France. The name, Les Deux Rives, refers to the twin banks of the Canal du Midi built in 1600 by Louis XIV to help develop the economy of southern France.

HARVEST & AGEING
Mechanical harvesting is carried out, when the ripness is at its optimum (the goal is to find a balance between the aromatic maturity, phenoleptic sugar, and acidity). After the harvest, there is a cold skin maceration for few hours followed by pressing, and finally by a cold settling.  Fermentation is done under temperature control (in between of 15 and 18°C). Maturation takes place in stainless steel tank.

The Champagne Wishes Panel raves:

Is there anything more refreshing than a cold glass of a delicious white wine after a long day in NYC?  Perhaps...but for this oenophile, nothing can compare!  As I sipped a glass of Les Deux Rives Corbieres Blanc 2009 the other night, I felt all of the cares of the day slip away.  Demanding boss?  Gone!  Subway stress?  Finito!  Annoying person on line in front of me at the supermarket?  Forgotten!  Interestingly, although the Corbieres appellation is one of the the largest in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, they produce very few whites.  However, judging by this fantastic bottle, when they do white, they do it right!  A blend of Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, and Roussanne, this wine is characterized by a bright yellow color with just a hint of underlying green.  The taste is light and fruity, but the mouthfeel is fairly substantial, and it has a lingering finish.  I detected notes of peach and apple, which were both light and not overpowering.  There was also just the tiniest hint of banana!  The wine worked equally well on its own and accompanying a snack of cheese and olives.  As we head into warmer weather, this will definitely be a mainstay in my wine refrigerator!  It's light, refreshing, and very smooth to drink - perfect for those oppressive NYC summer days!

I am not always a big fan of white wines.  Usually, they are too sweet for me.  If they aren't too sweet, then they are probably too bitter or sour for my liking.  Les Deux Rives Corbieres Blanc, however, is not like that at all!  This wine was near perfect!  I was so happy to have found it!  It has a beautiful pale yellow complexion.  The taste was so light and refreshing.  It's sweet, but definitely not too sweet.  It also has a lovely blend of fruity flavors like hints of peach and apple.  This wine would go well with a heavy meal since it is so light.  Although, it would be easily enjoyed all on its own!  I think I am going to have to start drinking more white wine now! Les Deux Rives Corbieres Black is going to be at the top of my list.  I recommend you put it on yours too!

We love Les Deux Rives Corbieres Blanc 2009.  This wine has an excellent, crisp fruit flavor.  It has a hint of sweet, with a nice clean finish.  This varietal is made from three different grapes: Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, and Roussannne, resulting in an elegantly balanced taste that appeals to all.  A true crowd-pleaser,  the Corbieres Blanc 2009 is an great choice to serve at your next party.  Make sure to serve it from the bottle, rather than a carafe, so that your guests can admire the beautiful scene on the label.   And at under $10 a bottle, you can afford to have plenty on hand.  Serve on its own, as the welcome cocktail.  Or pair it with a platter of mixed fruit and cheeses for a lovely appetizer.  Pasternak can always be counted on to import the best wines.  And so many are at truly affordable prices.  Peachy Deegan certainly knows the best of Manhattan and excellence everwhere.  And Pasternak is a wine importer whom YOU should know, as well!

Les Deux Rives Corbieres Blanc 2009 is simply the best! I love white wines and this one cannot be beat. It's a nice smooth, crisp, dry wine. I love when it's chilled how the taste just pops! It's nice so refreshing. I had this the last night with a cheese platter. It was just great! The taste of the wine brought out the taste of the cheese. The bright color really brings the beauty of the wine out. You can smell and taste the fresh fruits and floral aroma. It really has an intensity to it that I feel no other wine can match. You must try this wine. If you're having a party or going to one get a bottle. Trust me it will be the hit. Enjoy a bottle today!
