Fancy Nancy has always been popular in my classroom. When I brought in Fancy Nancy, Aspiring Artist, my class was thrilled! I had several students jump at the opportunity to read this book right away. I have several students who love to do anything that involves art. When I sat down to read it with several of my girls, we loved how it was broken down into days. It started on Sunday and ended the following Sunday with an art show. The girls loved all the colors and they even got several ideas from Nancy on what they could do at home! I love to see my students get ideas from books they actually want to do. Once they were done with the Aspiring Artist book, they asked if I had anymore Fancy Nancy books. I love having books around that I know my students want to read.
Fancy nancy is back with a new talent. This aspiring artiste is like most kids during school holidays; Fancy Nancy is bored. So what do you do with bored children? You give them projects to work on. My daughter could totally relate to this FN book because she loves to do art projects. When Fancy Nancy's mummy brings out the glitter painter, my daughter's eyes lit up. Every little girl loves to play with glitter. And what could be fancier? So get your fancy on by reading this book. Your daughter will be inspired to create her own masterpieces with Fancy Nancy divine creations. Perfect for a rainy day or those long school breaks.
This is the first Fancy Nancy book I have ever read, but it won't be the last! I love, love, love the cover! It is fancy, just as it should be! The sparkles and wonderful artwork immediately catch the eye of any child (or adult for that matter). It only gets better from there. "Fancy Nancy Aspiring Artist" is a book for children, yes, but what I really like is the sophisticated vocabulary! It was wonderful to read this book to my three year old and to explain words such as "inspiration", "splendid" and "aspiring"! To also name and discuss famous artists such as Monet, Matisse and Pollock within the context of the story was a treat. My three year old really enjoyed the story of Fancy Nancy and her dreams of becoming an accomplished artist. I look forward to reading this story over and over with my child (as we all know children like to do when they are fond of a book) and to sharing many other of Fancy Nancy's adventures together!
