Terrific Takeout: Dresner's
A part of Yorkville for over 90 years, Dresner's may be the oldest restaurant we've ever reviewed. This part of town is historically German, however, it has been recently improved upon in the last 3 years because Dermot Kelly of County Meath has become the owner! (Peachy Deegan can get away with saying that since she is both Irish and German; looks like she didn't pick the German last name for her pen name...) We started off with a lovely green salad which had amazingly fresh tomatoes and we loved the way they were cut vertically which we haven't seen before. The peppercorn salad dressing on the side was standout.
As an appetizer we tried the chicken and shrimp quesadillas which were mildly spicy for anyone Irish but probably pretty mild in the grand scheme of things. Dresner's boasts quality American food and does not lean towards any one ethnicity, though their decorations for St. Patrick's day look fabulous.
The Filet of Sole Meuniere with garlic, rice and vegetables was terrific. The sole was flavorful and had an enchanting texture and the rice was a hit; we'd almost encourage it over a potato. The broccoli, carrots and more made you feel like an angel getting in your vegetables for the day. We'd totally recommend Dresner's for Takeout!
