Terrific Takeout: Heidi's House

Heidi's House is a new, cute hotspot on the Upper East side concealed to many as it is on a street, rather than on an avenue.  And we think you ought to know about it. The creative American menu is spectacular, and though it is mainly a wine bar, you know we don't review wine in this column.  You also know in this column, the restaurant is not necessarily devoted to takeout and in most cases, concentrates on clients who dine in....this is the case with Heidi's House.  If you go there to drink the wine, do not stop there.  You must try the cuisine.  Heidi does simple dishes in an outstanding way, as exemplified by the Mushroom Gnocchi above and the Macaroni and Cheese with Chorizo below.  The flavor and seasonings are unique and trendy without being over the top and ridiculous.  They clearly have set themselves apart with culinary style in such a little place, but you know great things can happen in little places in Manhattan.
Of course we tried a fresh green salad which was good, and we must say we've never tried shrimp tacos before this, but if Heidi keeps putting shrimp in tacos that is probably the only way Peachy Deegan would want to eat them!  Heidi's House is Terrific Takeout; the casual comfort you'll encounter will delight you.
