Champagne Wishes: Domaine Houchart's 2010 Cotes de Provence Rose Highly Recommended by Whom You Know

Cotes de Provence Rose

The blend is Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mouvedre and other varietals. This is a delicious, fresh and fruity dry Rose. It's special freshness comes from the unique method of harvesting, where the grapes are immediately placed in gondolas filled with CO2 gas and covered with thermal blankets, to exclude oxygen and keep the grapes cool under the hot Provencal sun. This very versatile wine is delicious as an aperitif and perfect for summer meals.

It's spring in Manhattan FINALLY!!!! Time for Peachy Deegan and the Champagne Wishes panelists to break out the Rose, and this is the best one we've seen in quite awhile!  Whom You Know Highly Recommends the Domaine Houchart's 2010 Cotes de Provence Rose, and the panel raves:

On a Saturday evening, as I was enjoying some quality time with my sister, we cracked open a bottle of Domaine Houchart's 2010 Cotes de Provence Rose. This easy-drinking wine is produced on a 200-acre estate near Aix-en-Provence which is owned by the Quiot family from Chateauneuf-du-Pape. My sis a I sipped our way through the evening, reminiscing and telling stories, all the while enjoying the delicious, fruity wine. Salmon pink in color, the Rose is made from a blend of five different grapes: Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Mourvedre. The combination is outstanding! Sweet, but not too sweet and definitely highly refreshing! The flavor was chock full of berries, particularly strawberries, as well as a very light minerality. The finish was smooth and clean. We enjoyed the wine on its own and considered it our dessert for the evening! However, I can easily see it pairing with a variety of foods, including cheese, pizza, fish, and salads. In fact, the delicate, fruit-forward taste would be a welcome complement to just about any kind of food I can think of! Or, it can simply be enjoyed on its own, as my sister and I chose to do! Either way, it's a surefire winner. I'm looking forward to enjoying many more glasses of this wine over the spring and summer. As an added bonus, the label is also very pretty, making this wine an excellent gift idea! Overall, an excellent wine from an excellent wine-making family.

Domaine Houchart is an excellent dessert wine. We enjoyed this wine with a chocolate mousse-filled phyllo pastry tonight. What a delightful pairing. Don't be fooled by the pink hue, though. This is not your grandparents' sticky sweet Zinfandel. There is a lovely sweetness to this bottle. But, it's not overpowering. The Domaine Houchart perfectly balances its sugar and acidity content. If you want the luxury of a French wine, without the astronomical price tag, this is the wine for you. I loved serving this to my guests, this evening. Just right for pleasing the crowd, this wine was a hit with all. The only problem was running out too fast. Of course, at this reasonable price, I'll have plenty on hand next time.

Domaine Houchart is one hell of a Rosé wine. It was the most popular wine I had when hosting my friends over the other night. The pink wine is not only gorgeous in site but also in taste. The pink wine also pops open with a nice light berry aroma. Upon only one sip you can taste the fruity and floral notes. My palate couldn't get enough of the wine. So easy to drink - or shall I say indulge. It's also a nice dry rose. So great to match up with cheese. Also, wonderful to have on a nice hot day. The freshness of this wine is phenomenal. Crack open a bottle. You'll see how amazing it really is. Oh and not to mention great to have on tap at any party! Get a bottle while it lasts!

Rose types of wine are my absolute favorite. I had never heard of this wine before, but was so excited to try it. I was so glad I did. This has to be my new favorite rose wine. The aroma was sweet with strawberries and citrus-y at the same time. When I tasted it, it had a slight hint of strawberries, which I loved. It also had a hint of citrus to it, which I felt complemented the sweetness very well. I enjoyed it chilled. I paired it with Italian and the wine complemented it well. I also enjoyed it by itself. It was the perfect end of the day dessert. I had a friend over to try this wine with me and she enjoyed it as well. I will have to find where I can purchase more of this wine. I plan to enjoy this wine as often as I can.
