Peachy's Pantry: The Taylors of Harrogate Decaf Breakfast Tea Recommended by Whom You Know

Breakfast Teas are another favorite tea of mine, besides English Breakfast Teas.  Plus, I love them even more when they are decaffeinated.  The Taylors of Harrogate Decaf Breakfast Tea now has to be my new favorite.  The aroma and flavor were more rich than any other decaf breakfast tea I've tasted.  This is my favorite tea to enjoy either plain, or with a little milk.  Either way, it's fabulous.  This tea is one that I am going to have to keep in stock in my pantry.

So some of you cannot handle the caffeine. Lucky for you Taylors of Harrogate was some great decaffeinated teas. One of my favorites is the Earl Grey Tea that is decaffeinated. This tea is quite pleasant with a wonderful citrusy flavor. Light to the pallet with a strong finish…Goodness it’s not wine, but it is intoxicating in a totally different way. So drink up.

I love this tea because my preschool aged son and I can have a cup together.  This decaffeinated tea doesn't lose any punch due to its lack of caffeine!  My son enjoyed his cup of tea with milk and honey while I enjoyed my black.  No matter what your preference is, this tea is lovely.  Taylor's of Harrogate, a family business since 1886, knows their tea!  This blend of African teas can be enjoyed any time of day.  It is suggested that the tea steeps for 5-6 minutes in boiling water before being enjoyed.  Get this tea, steep and enjoy!

As a mother to a young baby, my girlfriends and I are always on the lookout for an early breakfast pick me up sans the caffeine.  My new find is Taylors of Harrogate's Decaf Breakfast Tea.  It delivers all the punch and wake up qualities of a traditional English breakfast tea but without the nursing mothers nemesis -- caffeine.  It was all the rage at my most recent play date.  All the moms were asking which tea I was serving.  Absolutely perfect way to get the day started.  Take it from me, and the other moms!!!

Taylors of Harrogate Decaf Break packs a lot of WOW! Oh how I love this tea and where to start? I can't get enough of this tea. I drink a bunch of cups of this tea every day. It is a very rich and smooth tea. I love how robust it is. Also the aroma is simply is phenomenal.

Tea:
Taylors pays good prices for their premium teas. Rather than accept standard market prices, they place their own value on a tea based on the taste and quality that they are looking for in their blends. This often results in paying higher prices to the smallholder farmers to help them maintain exceptional quality.

In places like India and Africa a typical tea estate supports a large community of people who live and work on the estate with their families. Housing, schools and health care are all provided, as well as subsidized staple foods, and other benefits. Taylors has a strong responsibility to ensure that all these people are treated properly and respectfully. To do this Taylors Ethical Trading Manager and tea buyers work alongside the Ethical Tea Partnership to monitor and improve conditions on the ground.

Each of Taylors Tea Buyers spends over six weeks a year overseas, visiting the estates and working directly with growers looking at conditions of workers on tea estates, including wages and rights, housing, health and safety and the environment. During a typical visit, they would also look at the provision of schooling and health care and visit local hospitals and schools. The very best tea estates and gardens they buy from are recognized with ‘Rewarding Quality’ awards.

Coffee:
• Taylors buys coffee from 49 different suppliers in 20 countries.
• 100% of Taylors coffee suppliers receive a guaranteed fair, sustainable price.
• Tens of thousands of coffee workers have benefited from improvements in living and   working conditions, thanks to Taylors social audits.

Simply put, Taylors’ buys coffee based on quality and they trade with respect for both people and planet. Over the years Taylors has developed long-lasting, sustainable relationships with their coffee growers. Taylors’ expert buyers regularly visit the farms and cooperatives they buy from because they believe there's no better way to establish a genuine rapport with suppliers. They pay sustainable prices for all their coffee by guaranteeing to cover costs of production and paying a premium for quality. This provides their suppliers with the stability and means to invest so they can meet independent environmental standards and improve living conditions in their communities. Taylors is proud of the standards they’ve worked hard to establish together.

Taylors coffee buyers collected a prestigious award, recognizing their commitment to fair and ethical trade. The award was presented by HRH, The Prince of Wales, and former United States Vice President, Al Gore. The award was presented to Taylors because of their long-term commitment to building direct, personal relationships with growers; the fair, sustainable prices they pay; and their system of audits, which improve living and working conditions for everyone involved in growing their coffee.

Taylors of Harrogate – A company with a deep social conscience.
Founding Members of the Ethical Tea Partnership
Taylors is a founding member of the Ethical Tea Partnership, and has been actively involved in developing and promoting ethical codes of practice in the tea industry. The Ethical Tea Partnership aims to improve the lives of tea workers and ensure that tea drinkers can be confident that the tea in their cup has been produced in an environmentally and socially sustainable way.

Trading Fairly
Taylors believes that quality and trading fairly go hand in hand. It’s only by forging strong trading relationships with the growers, and ensuring they are paid premium prices, that Taylors can ensure a continued supply of the best quality teas and coffees.

Taylors has direct, long-term relationships with growers. They pay a fair price that covers the costs of production and gives the farmer a decent return, in spite of fluctuations in world commodity prices. Audits help assess and understand how their fair prices are helping improve living and working conditions on tea and coffee estates.

Buying Tea and Coffee Ethically
Taylors ensures the prices they pay are fair. They have a strong responsibility to ensure that all the people they buy from are treated properly and respectfully.

To do this they have an Ethical Trading Manager and a team of tea and coffee buyers who are all qualified social auditors. When visiting tea and coffee farms they carry out audits to help assess and understand how their prices are helping improve living and working conditions on tea and coffee estates by looking at issues such as wages and rights, health and safety, and the environment. Thanks to Taylors’ buying policy, the farms they work with continue to thrive and produce the excellent quality that they require.

Sustainable Sourcing Program
Close ties with tea and coffee growing communities across Africa, Asia, Central and South America have been the driving force behind the creation of a robust Sustainable Sourcing Program within the company. Taylors builds direct, long-term relationships with growers and always pay an excellent price for quality teas and coffees. Taylors balances their emotional, instinctive, ‘gut feel’ for great quality with realistic, practical measures which help ensure that the tea and coffee is being grown responsibly, and that they buy from well run tea gardens and coffee farms.

Taylors of Harrogate – committed to protecting the environment.
5% Fund
Taylors believes that the success of the business and the rewards it brings are dependent on, and shared with, all stakeholders: staff, customers, suppliers, the environment, and the communities they trade with and in. Thanks to the 5% Fund, they donate 5 per cent of profits to community and environmental initiatives each year.

Trees for Life Appeal
Taylors also supports tea and coffee growing communities through the long-term Trees for Life appeal. Launched twenty years ago, the initial Trees for Life appeal had a goal of planting one million trees. That figure has grown to a staggering three million trees.

Of course there are still more trees to plant, but for now, with an acre of rainforest destroyed every second and half of the world’s rainforest already lost, there’s a new commitment. They’re asking customers and the whole of the Yorkshire community to help save an area of rainforest the size of Yorkshire … welcome to the Yorkshire Rainforest Project.

Yorkshire Rainforest Project
Taylors is a company dedicated to protecting the environment. They began the Yorkshire Rainforest Project, a joint project with the Rainforest Foundation UK, to save 3.7 million acres of rainforest, an area the size of Yorkshire County, England, in Peru’s Amazon rainforest – one of the most threatened rainforests on the planet. It’s a huge undertaking and will take years, perhaps decades.

Rainforest Alliance
Taylors is committed to driving continual progress on the farms they work with and helping producers to achieve good social and environmental practices. This is why they work alongside independent certification initiatives such as the Rainforest Alliance. The Rainforest Alliance seal of approval is only given to farmers and growers if they meet a long list of social and environmental criteria. These include conserving local wildlife and water resources, minimizing soil erosion, treating workers fairly and protecting forests.
