PIERRE SPARR PINOT BLANC RESERVE 2008 RECOMMENDED BY WHOM YOU KNOW
The Sparr estate dates back to 1680, and for years the vineyard grew under the influence of François-Pierre Sparr. The company developed its trading activity under the leadership of Charles Sparr. His son, Pierre, eventually took over at a very young age. Due to World War II, the vineyards were completely destroyed. With great courage and tenacity, Pierre rebuilt one of the most beautiful and prestigious areas of Alsace. His two sons currently contribute to the expansion of vineyards and development of markets across Europe.
Offering notes of lemon zest, pear, melon, and acidity, this is a tasty, flavorful, oak-free, dry white, with intense fruit and body. Perfectly balanced, offering hints of sweetness and spice on the finish.

After a very long day, all I wanted to do was to pop open a bottle of wine, relax on the couch while sipping said wine and listen to relaxing music while my husband gave me a much needed (and much deserved, if you ask me) foot massage. My reality was, I unscrewed the bottle (which by the way, is much more user friendly than a cork) of Pierre Sparr Reserve Pinot Blanc 2008 Alsace, poured myself a glass, squeezed myself in on the couch next to my snoring husband and watched the end of the do-it-yourself home repair disasters that my snoring hubby had on the ol' boob tube because I was too tired to search for the remote. None of the perfect evening gone not so perfect mattered though after I took my first sip of the 2008 Alsace. It was perfectly chilled (the hubby gets points there as he gifted me a wine chiller last Christmas) and all my exhaustion from the day disappeared. I tried a glass first before reading about it as I wanted to make my own opinions. The Alsace was refreshing, light, but not too light and fruity. I didn't pair it with anything the first night I tried it and it was just lovely. I would have enjoyed a second glass, however, it made me so relaxed I joined my husband in dreamland on the couch! The next evening I enjoyed a glass with dinner. I liked it just as much as the previous evening. It is light, but can really hold its own with a meal. The Alsace reminded me of a lighter Chardonnay (I am normally not a Chardonnay girl). When I finally did some research on this wine, I read one quote that said this is the "poor man's Chardonnay". Works for me. This wine hails from the Alsace region of France and has aromas of apple, citrus and pear. It pairs well with fish, poultry and cheese. All of this talk of wine has given me "wine on the mind'. I think I'll go pour myself a glass and see what awaits me on the couch tonight! Cheers!
The Pierre Sparr Alsace is a delightful Pinot Blanc. Not familiar with this variety of grape, I was pleasantly surprised by this crisp, yet understatedly fruity, wine. It was a perfect way to end a tough work week. Spring has finally arrived, and the pear trees are blooming here in the south. What better way to spend an evening than outdoors, enjoying a lovely glass of chilled wine? This Pinot Blanc was excellent as a stand-alone refreshment. But it also pairs well with a variety of foods. It's light to medium bodied flavor makes it quite versatile. This wine would match well with any seafood dish. We enjoyed ours with pan-fried crab cakes. This crisp wine was a great choice to help cool down the spicy pepper aioli. At only $10-$12 a bottle, the Pierre Sparr Alsace Pinot Blanc is a fantastic wine to keep on hand this spring. For Chardonnay fans, you may miss the deeper oaky flavor of a Chardonnay. But, for those of us who are not oak lovers, you will enjoy this departure from the typical Pinot Grigio. Bring home a bottle tonight, and feel the workday melt away.
I enjoy the process of making wines almost as much as drinking them. But knowing the process enhances the experience of drinking it. The Pierre Sparr Pinot Blanc Reserve 2007 is made from grapes drawn from the Alsace region of France. This refreshing dry white wine has exceptional flavor. I believe that they deliver this flavor from a entirely from fruit. It is said that when making this wine there is no oak involved giving it a cleaner and purer taste. At first sip, you immediately taste the purity. Followed by some notes of possibly pear. I also sniffed some scents of lemon. Also notes of melon mixed with some lively acidity create a smooth and finish. This is a great wine to pair with the typical fish or light chicken dish. I think I was most surprised of the price. At 11.99-$14.99 you will fool your guests into thinking you spent a lot more on this bottle. So definitely give this bottle a try!
Alsace Pierre Sparr Pinot Blanc is an amazing wine. I can't tell you enough of how much I love it. The taste, the aroma is simply irresistible. It has a nice fruity taste. I love that it is a dry and crisp wine. It really has a refreshing taste. I paired this wine with a cheese and cold cut platter. The food and the wine danced together and was simply perfect. It has a freshness and is so light. Honestly, one of the best wines to start your cocktail party off right. This wine really gives your taste buds something to scream about. It truly is good to the last drop. YUM! Run out and get yourself a bottle. Trust me you won't regret it.
