Whom You Know's Gotham Gadgets has loved Soda Stream for quite awhile now, and our readers voted them their favorite brand featured in Gotham Gadgets, so we followed up! The Gotham Gadgets Panel took a look at the Genesis, and they rave:

The Soda Stream Genesis is one of the coolest products I've ever used! I've seen it on display in my local grocery store for for about a year now. Every time I would pass by the display, I would think, "Oh, that looks fun, but it's not something I really need to have." Well, now I know I was wrong! I've had the Soda Stream Genesis for about a week now, and I have looked forward to using it every day! Sometimes I have even used it more than once in a day! First of all, it so easy to use. I had it all set up in less than five minutes once I took it out of the box. The directions are very easy to follow, too. You are drinking delicious sparkling water or soda within just a couple minutes of starting the process! I
usually don't drink very much soda, but I do enjoy drinking sparkling water. The Soda Stream is perfect for making great-tasting sparkling water right from your tap! Just fill up the Soda Stream bottle, twist it into the machine, tap the button a few times, and voila! You have sparkling water without even having to leave your house! You no longer have to pay for your sparkling water, and you can refill your bottle over and over again! Just think of how much you'll be helping out the environment! They even have all natural unsweetened flavor essence to add to your water for a splash of fruit flavor. My favorite is the lemon-lime, but they also have great flavors like orange and raspberry. As I mentioned, I usually don't drink very much soda. Mostly, this is because sodas are too sweet for me, and I don't like the idea of drinking in all that corn syrup and all the artificial flavors, sweeteners, and colors. With Soda Stream, however, there is a huge variety of soda flavors to choose from, and none of them contain corn syrup or aspartame! And since you add the flavors to the sparkling water you make with the Soda Stream Genesis, you can control how sweet or fruity you want your drink to be. So far, I've really enjoyed every flavor I've tried - from the Cola Free (zero calories!!) to the delicious and refreshing Cranberry-Raspberry (only 35 calories!!). If you have been debating getting a Soda Stream Genesis like I was, or even if you have never heard about one before today, I highly recommend getting one as soon as possible! You will love it! Soda has never been so delicious or so fun!

I was so excited when I got home and saw the Sodastream Genesis Value Pack waiting on my front porch! I've seen items like this before and have been dying to try it. Being a teacher, I thought this would be something good to take to school with me when my students earned a party. All the flavors that came with it, I was excited to try as well. I even wanted to try just the plain seltzer water. I couldn't believe how easy it was to do the Sodastream once I tried it. The flavor I was most excited to try first was the Green Tea Pomegranate Peach. It was to die for! I couldn't believe how wonderful it was. I wanted to savor every sip. Of all the flavors that came with it, that one was by far my favorite. My next favorite was the Cola Free. I don't drink soda much anyway, and the Sodastream is perfect. I can make a glass of sparkling water or soda anytime instead of going to the store or drive thru when I want one. I prefer fountain drinks over the soda in cans or 2 liters, and the soda I made from the Sodastream rivals drive thru diet. I love that it saves me money as well. I can get more value for what I could've gotten at the store. I also love that it helps cut down on my carbon footprint. I am all for doing well for the planet and the Sodastream helps me cut down on the waste I would have if I bought my own soda from the store. When I brought it with me to school for my students party they earned for receiving 30 compliments, they couldn't get over how cool it was. I brought many of the flavors with me and was able to make all the kids happy without spending a lot of money buying drinks from the store. I even had other teachers coming in to check out the Sodastream and they couldn't believe how cool and easy it was for me to make my own soda. A few of them tried it themselves and couldn't get over how easy it was. They were saying how they wanted to go get one for themselves. I can't believe I even waited to get my own Sodastream Genesis. I highly recommend this product!

Okay, I admit it. I'm a seltzer addict! No matter how hard I try to wean myself off and stick to plain old water, I find myself headed toward the seltzer display every time I'm in the grocery store. Problem is, at the rate I drink it, it starts to put quite a dent in the wallet. Not to mention the fact that if I run out of seltzer at an odd hour, say 2 a.m. (this is theoretical, of course!), I have to wait until the next day to restock! So, I was beyond delighted to add the Soda Stream to my lineup of kitchen gadgets! I was pleasantly surprised, right off the bat, by how sleek the machine is. It's very narrow and does not take up much counter space at all, which is a definite plus for a New York City-dweller. Next bonus: even for a techno-klutz like me, assembly was very simple! All that's required is unscrewing the cap of the carbonating cyliner, screwing it into the lid of the machine, then pressing the lid onto the base of the machine. Done and done! And then, to carbonate a beverage, all you need to do is fill the 1-liter bottle (provided with the machine) to the fill line with chilled water, screw the bottle into the machine and press a button! Once you hear a buzz, release and press again. Typically, it takes 3 presses to carbonate a beverage, but the beauty of this machine is that the user can control the carbonation! So, if you like your beverages super-carbonated, you can add extra carbonation simply by pressing the button a few more times! After carbonating, you simply unscrew the bottle, add flavor (or leave it plain!), and enjoy! I made a bottle of lemon-lime seltzer and tried it alongside a bottle of store-bought lemon-lime seltzer, and actually preferred my home-made concoction! I'd added just a little extra carbonation to mine, and that made the difference. Next, I moved on to making homemade soda! I'm not a huge soda drinker, in part because of the calorie factor with regular soda and the aspartame in diet soda. I feel that neither is a particularly healthy option. However, the regular Soda Stream flavors contain far fewer calories than store-bought brands, and also contain no high-fructose corn syrup. For example, Soda Stream's cola flavor contains 34 calories per serving, compared with Pepsi's 100. Diet flavors are sweetened with Splenda, which I consider a far better option than aspartame. With over 30 flavors to choose from, I haven't quite worked my way through all of them yet, but I can definitively report that the cola, diet cola, root beer, and diet grapefruit are all outstanding. I can't wait to try the rest of the flavors! Truly, I cannot say enough about this amazing addition to my kitchen! A sleek, easy-to-use, money saving (approximately 25 cents per liter), environmentally friendly machine that provides a healthier alternative to store-bought beverages? I'm sold!!
