NFL’S TROY VINCENT HONORED WITH PRESTIGIOUS “LEADERSHIP IN SPORTS” AWARD AT 2011 SPORTS FOR SOCIAL CHANGE EVENT HELD AT THE FRENCH EMBASSY IN WASHINGTON D.C.
NFL Great Troy Vincent was recently honored with the prestigious “Leadership in Sport for Social Change Award” at the 2011 Sport for Social Change Awards Gala held at the French Embassy in Washington D.C. on June 1st.
Leading international practitioner in the field of sport for development, Street Soccer USA, presented the 2011 Sport for Social Change Awards at a Washington, D.C. gala on June 1 to Vincent and three other recipients for their extraordinary use of sports for social good.
The “Sport for Social Change in Philanthropy Award” went to Mark Ein of the Washington Kastles, Lisa Wrightsman, former soccer star turned coach, after making a comeback from homelessness, received the “Women in Sports Impact Award” and Will Garofalo, of St. Albans School received the “Sport For Social Change in Youth Service Award” for his extraordinary outreach to 400 homeless youth and adults during the 2010 USA Street Soccer National Cup.
Troy Vincent, a perennial All-Pro during his 15-year NFL career with an outstanding record of achievements in business and sports, continues to set a new standard of excellence for future, current, and former NFL players. As Vice President of Player Engagement, he embraces his role of optimizing and revolutionizing players’ professional and personal growth with guidance, support and resources before, during and after their NFL experience.
Both personally and through his work at the NFL, Troy Vincent remains deeply committed to giving back; exemplifying a true passion for leading others to personal success. His community and volunteer involvement includes board positions for University of Wisconsin Foundation, Love Thy Neighbor CDC, United Negro College Fund-The Art of Giving Back, and support of a multitude of other philanthropic activities.
Highly respected by business, sports, political, and community leaders, Troy has been publicly recognized and earned countless other accolades and awards including the NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, NFL Players Association Byron Whizzer White Award, Sporting News #1 Good Guy, and NFL Athletes in Action Bart Starr Award. In fact he is the only player to have ever received all four of these awards in the history of professional football. In addition, Sporting News named him on the 35 or Younger Most Powerful People in Sports and Ebony Magazine recognized him as one of the 50 Most Influential People in Sports.
