Peachy Picks Arpeggio

When in Rome, do as the Romans do...and when in Lincoln Center, the natives go to Arpeggio!
A delightful spot with a summery straightforward menu, Arpeggio is certain to delight all who take the time to sip some wine and have a bite to eat while they are in the vicinity.  Executive Chef Anthony Verga was a total professional and both his knowledge of all things culinary and his genuine warmth impressed us.  We were also delighted to meet Restaurant Manager Justin Hollander.  The service at Arpeggio is tops and complete class.
Arpeggio was first featured in Tasty Tidbits:

and we are pleased to announce it has graduated to Peachy's Picks.
Peachy began with the Arpeggio Salad: Lola Rose, Frisee, Ricotta Salad and Smoked Almonds.  If you like olives, that is another component but you avid readers know that Peachy said "Hold the olives, please!" and they did.  It was refreshing and came dressed for the party.
We also sampled the Artisan Cheese Flight, above.
Though the cheese itself varies, it is always composed of a cheese from a goat, a sheep and a cow...and you know we're talking about their milk of course!
Marcona Almonds, Black Cherry Chutney and Pickles made this a symphony of flavors to kick off the evening.
One of the components Peachy Deegan was most impressed with at Arpeggio was the wine list.  Both wines she sipped were outstanding: the Mulderbosch Cabernet Sauvignon Rose (South Africa 2010): fresh, ripe and invigorating; and the Villa Antinori, Toscana IGT (Italy 2007): robust, healthy and deep.
As an entree, Peachy ordered the Grilled Filet Mignon.  It arrived with pickled cherry tomatoes, which were excellently fresh and a choice compliment to the meat, and potato.
Not only is the food lovely at Arpeggio, but the atmosphere is as well.  The morning that Peachy was there, Valerie Bertinelli had an event there, and the prior weekend, Lady Gaga was there in Lincoln Center.  Too bad they both missed our dinner party-Valerie and Gaga if you are reading let Peachy know if you want to be on the next panel!
The seasonal mixed berries for dessert were to die for and a true highlight:
Our esteemed panelist adds:
Arriving in fashionable Lincoln Center one can't help but be influenced by the arts that surround them and Arpeggio Food & Wine does just that. Arpeggio, which is a musical technique of chords being played in sequence, is part of the Restaurant Associates family, and has been serving famous artists and their patrons since 2008.Upon arrival I was promptly greeted by Gus at reception, and whisked to a quiet table over looking Columbus Avenue.A wine list the good variation was presented, with options by the glass, quartino or bottle available. The Santa Cristina Pinto Grigio I selected was nice and crisp.Shortly after drinks were served, the Amuse bouche of a chilled cucumber and cream soup was brought right out to the table, along with fresh rolls. The soup was creamy, cleansing my palate for what was about to come.
My appetizer of prosciutto de Parma, was served with sliced musk melon, thinly grated Grana cheese and a nontraditional but pleasant strawberry balsamic dressing. It was the perfect appetizer for a summer evening, flavorful and fresh, transporting me back to a piazza in Florence. We also indulged in the seasonal Artisan cheese flight, which was accompanied by fresh prosciutto de Parma, Marcona almonds, black cherry chutney, pickles, and crackers. Alfonso, our server informed us that the cheese selection constantly changes, so patrons will always be experiencing what is fresh and in season, though the plate typically includes a semi-hard, blue, and soft cheese.Another glance over Arpeggio’s wine list and I selected a wonderful Benziger Family Merlot to compliment my entrée.
For my entrée I ordered the special of the evening, which was goat cheese ravioli served with a salad of roasted peppers and portabella mushrooms. The entrée was served as three large fresh raviolis, accompanied by the roasted vegetable salad, which was particularly flavorful.Dessert could easily be the star of the show at Arpeggio. The lemon chiffon pie which I had was light and airy yet sweet and tangy. With a layer of lemon chiffon a top a thin slice of moist cake, it was the perfect amount of creaminess and lemon to tickle the taste buds and end the meal on a satisfied note. And let’s not forget the perfect cappuccino that accompanied the pie, served appropriately in a musical themed espresso cup, cumulating the chords played in my dinner experience.
