"The Diet is Dead".  If that title doesn't draw you in, I don't know what will!  The premise of this book wirtten by Daniel Reynen, is that instead of being told how to diet, the reader will be taught how to figure out what his/her own body needs.  This book provides a great deal of information, but remains very user friendly.  It opens with a variety of tools for self-evaluation (BMI, body fat percentage, resting metabolic rate, etc.) and then helps the reader to determine how much he/she should eat.  From there chapters are devoted to fat, carbohydrates, protein, fiber, water, etc.  Each chapter provides detailed information and a summary at the end.  This book is different from other diet books in that it really makes the process of losing weight personal.  By using the self-evaluation tools, each individual is able to tailor the program to their own personal needs, this is definitely a road to success!  "The Diet is Dead" is a great book (and tool) for anyone looking to make changes and to secure a healthier lifestyle!

It's bathing suit season! What a better way to get in shape but to read The Diet is Dead by Daniel Reynen. This book isn't necessarily about loosing weight but changing your eating habits. The book really lays out and makes you understand weight loss. I love that it's simple to understand and guides you to succeed. Just know this isn't a quick fix - it's a change for life. Not only will you loose weight and look great but your body will thank you.

After nearly 150 years of ‘recorded’ dieting, American’s are fatter than ever. America’s weight problem is so serious that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) now spends nearly $800 million a year on research which has failed to produce a pill that will melt fat away or an injection to eliminate our cravings and bad habits. The good news is that Daniel Reynen, health and fitness expert and author of the newly released book The Diet is Dead, has spent more than a decade studying and testing hundreds of nutrition strategies.  As president of WeBeFit Personal Training, Reynen pitted the strategies against one another while counseling thousands of clients and now concludes that dieting is actually dead.
Behavior-focused studies have identified four steps, that when taken together, lead to greater success at losing weight and keeping it off. You’ll find all four steps are the foundation for Reynen’s book, The Diet is Dead. They include:
  1. Behavior Shifts-- how to make positive, permanent behavioral changes, not radical overhauls.
  2. Assessment-- determine what kind of shape you’re REALLY in so you can set realistic goals.
  3. Monitoring-- options to monitor what you eat; paper charts, smart phone programs, online systems and even pre-packaged meals.
  4. Ongoing Support-- social media based information so readers can stay informed, inspired, and in touch with their new personal trainer.
The interactive workbook-style manual goes far beyond theory and trends. Reynen presents actionable plans, data, calculations, charts and menus that can be immediately implemented, based on personal likes and body chemistry, to get the reader on their own individual road to wellness.
“I want people to know the truth.  Artificial sweeteners do serve a purpose, red meat is not the enemy, and desserts may still be enjoyed,” says Reynen.  “The Diet is Dead tells readers how to evaluate what they need, based on their specific goals, activities and preferences, not what we think they need or should buy.”
In The Diet is Dead Reynen illustrates coping techniques for attending parties, traveling, holidays, eating out, and more. Anentire section of the book shows the reader how to go through any food label in ten seconds or less, and discover if it’s good, bad or indifferent for each individual.  No more guessing; the book reveals key words and phrases to look for fast.
While most diet books leave the reader alone in the end, Reynen offers comprehensive support on his website—as well as case studies, more recipes and scientific data to back everything up.
