Champagne Wishes: Bulldog Gin Highly Recommended by Whom You Know. Sip Some this Summer!
It was love at first sip. On a hot summer night, the Bulldog Gin was the answer to my unspoken prayers, a moment of calm and cool in the midst of an oppressive summer in the city. It was the end of a very long week (Was it really only seven days? It sure felt like 15!), and I was in desperate need of an escape. Florida would have been ideal, but since that was out of the question, I decided to give the Bulldog a shot. Happily for me, I felt like I was on vacation after just one sip. Sweet, smooth, complex, and incredibly easy on the palate, this is one gin that definitely lives up to its name. It's bold, gruff, and uncompromising, yet 100% loveable. Housed in a stout, broad-shouldered bottle with a studded collar, this is one spirited spirit! Sure, it's got the requisite juniper and a blend of botanicals...but oh, what botanicals! Poppy, Dragon Eye, Lemon, Cassia, Almond, Juniper, Orris, Lotus Leaves, Liquorice, Lavendar, Angelica, and Coriander combine to give Bulldog a crisp yet balanced flavor. The sweeter flavors are tempered by the citrus flavors, and ingredients like Dragon Eye and Lotus Leaves give this gin a distinctive and exotic flare. Equally enjoyable on its own or in a mixed drink, Bulldog is a breath of fresh air in the spirit world, and an especially welcome one as we head into the "dog days" of summer. It's been dubbed the "world's most mixable gin," and there's no doubt that its balanced flavor would easily blend into just about any conceivable concoction. And because of the interesting blend of botanicals, it can also make a killer martini. For me, though, it doesn't get any better than a classic G&T, which is my all-time favorite summer drink. Bulldog Gin is made for the lover of gin. This is some serious stuff. The bottle itself is so unique it draws you automatically to it. I love how it is tailored to the name. It really is eye-catching to say the least. Open the bottle and boom! The liquor inside will rock your world. This gin is filled with an array of flavors I feel that you can't find in any other. This gin will set any martini apart from any other drink in the room. Hence the name Bulldog Gin - it will show you who's boss. I already am a great lover of dirty martinis and this gin has made my love grow fonder. The taste is crisp and sharp. With each sip you can really taste the uniqueness. Seeing as my family bestowed upon me the nickname of "Bulldog" many years ago, it only seems appropriate for me to drink Bulldog Gin! Now, I am not typically a gin drinker, but I was drawn in by the name and the packaging. This is not your typical gin bottle...the "Bulldog" bottle is deep, deep grey and purple, very intriguing. The shape of the bottle compliments the product name. With a broad neck and more narrow bottom, this bottle could only contain a gin named "Bulldog". "Poodle" or "Cocker Spaniel simply wouldn't do as they couldn’t possibly live up to this full, rich, complex gin! In all seriousness, this is very successful marketing as just looking at this bottle of gin makes you want to give it a try! I made a traditional gin and tonic (or two or three...). Simply put, it was the best G & T I have ever had! "Bulldog" gin is handcrafted in London and contains the taste and aromas of twelve botanicals, some of which are poppy, lavender, juniper, angelica and licorice. The exotic botanicals give this gin a very distinctive and most pleasant taste. It is fruity, but rich, very well balanced. "Bulldog" received the highest rating ever given to a gin by Wine Enthusiast Magazine and received other rave reviews across the board. Founded by a former investment banker, "Bulldog" won't disappoint. If you are searching for the perfect summer cocktail, and let's face it, who isn't? Whenever I go out to a bar or club, or even when I make a cocktail at home, my first choice of alcohol is always gin. Most of the time I'll have a gin and tonic. That is probably my favorite cocktail. This is why I was really looking forward to trying Bulldog London Dry Gin for the first time. The tagline for the spirit is "Defiantly Delicious." It definitely lives up to that description.
First, I mixed this ultra premium gin with my favorite brand of tonic water and added a splash of lime juice for a superbly refreshing gin and tonic. Bulldog Gin is unique from other brands because it is quadruple-distilled in traditional copper pots. Additionally, it is infused with twelve rare botanicals including lotus leaves and dragon eye. These ingredients give Bulldog a distinct flavor that puts it in a category above most other gins on the market. And because Bulldog is so high-quality, it can be mixed with hundreds of different ingredients to create countless delicious cocktails. One that I found to be quite exceptional and easy to make is the Cilantro Bulldog and Tonic. Simply muddle three sprigs of cilantro with two ounces of Bulldog Gin and a lime wedge, add your favorite tonic, and presto! You have the perfect summer cocktail! This is due, in no small part, to the lovely flavors of Dragon Eye, Lavender and Poppy (along with a host of others) that is blended into the recipe. I found a recipe that really played upon the Lavender (my favorite!) and have found my summer drink! The Lavender G&T. Add a dash of Lavender bitters to your G&T and garnish with a lemon wedge and some lavender flowers (straight from my own garden) and it is love. Seriously. This. Is. Fabulous.
