The City That Doesn't Sleep: Peachy Deegan is Mad! Mad for Mad 46, that is! And she is glad to say she is the 3rd generation of her family to love the Roosevelt Hotel!

Once upon a time there was a little girl in Connecticut who heard amazing stories of New York from her grandparents about how they used to go in the city and stay at The Roosevelt and go out in the Bowery.  And that little girl was Peachy Deegan.  Her grandparents were and are very fun and entertaining people (check out the picture on the home page of The Deegan girls at a bar in Manhattan in the 1940's) in addition to being the best grandparents, and she knew The Roosevelt had to be fabulous if they were staying there.  They were right!
Peachy Deegan has now drank the Vanderbilt Punch, above, an amazing concoction of Captain Morgan, Jack Daniels, Orange Juice, Cranberry Juice, Pineapple Juice and Lime Juice with Grenadine and Fresh Fruit.  The Vanderbilt Punch is just one item from an upbeat menu that offers splendid items to munch on as well as exquisite drinks.
And now she's the 3rd generation of her family to enjoy The Roosevelt.
Back when her grandparents came to New York, Mad 46 did not exist.  Maybe Peachy Deegan will convince her grandfather who is turning 90 next week to come back to give it a whirl!
In the midst of a rocking fourth season, Mad 46 has amazing cocktails, fabulous food, an atmosphere that is tops and we mean that literally as it is on the roof of the hotel, covering half of the perimeter, and a staff that genuinely cares highlighted by the warm personality and dazzling knowledge of all things Roosevelt by promotions manager, Kaitlin McCaffrey who is a total peach and the firecracker professional in this staff we met.   Nana was a lovely server and Danielle was an attentive Manager, asking us how we were at key points.  Though we did not meet him, we can tell Kevin Croke must be doing a good job since a) we met Nancy first and see she totally cares about her brand and b) Kevin must be Irish and that is reason enough.  Peachy began with a glass of the Sebastiani Vineyards Barbera:
It was deep and refreshing with a nice balance.  We were impressed with their selection of wines, which should not be overlooked in a lounge environment.  Some inferior lounges do not put time and effort into their wine selection and push tired cocktails on clients, and we are glad to see that a lot of thought was put into this menu.  Peachy did want to order the Chandon Rose as you know anything pink with bubbles jumps off the menu at her in July, but we were sad to hear they were out.  Next time.

Of course it is July in Manhattan, and you want to be outside!  Enjoy yourself, before the snow comes!  But if you are a penguin or a polar bear, you can retreat to the cool air-conditioned rooms of Mad 46 which cater to your needs.  Also, they are fabulous places for rainy days, or the colder season of April, when this opens, or October, when this closes.

The lobster sliders were just delicious and Peachy began with those.  You know she is a seafood addict and when she sees seafood she eats it!  It was a good balance between roll and lobster and we highly advise you try them.  You never want to drink and not eat.  Also, Peachy is a pizza connoisseur so she tried that and it did not disappoint!  We particularly loved the fresh tomato slices and the fresh cheese.  It was baked properly as well.

Mmmm!  Keep your computer screen clean please, everyone!
The atmosphere screams fun sophistication.  The crowd was diverse in background, age, and we saw both Manhattan residents and tourists.  Even the background music, which was festive without being obnoxiously obtrusive which can be the case at many lounges, was perfect.
If you are an avid reader of Whom You Know, you know we are superpicky, or rather Peachy Deegan herself is.  This girl drinks only one vodka brand, is very into due diligence, and only writes about what she likes...you know if she has nothing nice to say, she says nothing at all.
It should speak volumes to you that this is our first feature in The City That Doesn't Sleep that is a place that has not been previously featured.  You know we have featured some of our favorites before: Swifty's of course, inventor of The Peachy Deegan; Sistina, another home of The Peachy, and Uva is new,  but if you really know this world you know our pal Luigi Lusardi owns that and that is why we reviewed Uva...because we loved Lusardi's.  And once we were there we found out we loved Uva too.  Usually we don't put photos of ourselves up but we think you should see what a great place this is:
Our esteemed panelist adds:
It was a blazing hot day in New York City, but somehow, once we got to mad46, the rooftop lounge at the Roosevelt Hotel, things seemed a whole lot cooler.  Offering breathtaking views of Manhattan, this chic terrace gathering spot seems to draw a fantastic crowd that’s a mix of hotel guests, neighborhood regulars, and after-work revelers.  Upbeat, easy-to-groove-to music plays in the background, keeping the energy high and the mood buoyant.  As we settled onto our mod-style sofa, we were took a moment to exhale and enjoy the scene. Perched above much of the city, we felt as if we were in some kind of magical urban oasis!  Known for its fun, creative cocktails, Mad46 also offers a delightful “light fare” menu, featuring traditional favorites alongside more contemporary offerings.
I started off with a glass of Starborough Sauvignon Blanc to cool down, which I paired with the Roasted Red Pepper Hummus.  Savory and delicious, the hummus was served with crispy, garlicky flatbread, and it was a perfect choice for the sultry summer night.  Not too heavy, but definitely tasty and satisfying.  A little later on, I tried the Soba Noodle Salad, which could well become a go-to meal for me!
Served with shredded chicken, scallions and sesame seeds, and topped with a honey garlic vinaigrette, this salad had just the right amount of kick to it, and was absolutely delicious!  After my salad, it was on to my dessert: well, it wasn’t dessert in the traditional sense, but it was such a sweet treat that it sure seemed like one!
I am referring, of course, to the signature cocktail of mad46, the madMojito.  I absolutely adore mojitos, and I’m a huge fan of coconut…so, this delectable concoction, made with Bacardi Coco, coconut juice and freshly muddled mint and lime, had my name written all over it!  Additionally, it’s topped with a chocolate stick and coconut shavings.  It was simply divine.  I sipped on it as the sun set behind the Manhattan skyline and wondered to myself why every evening couldn’t be just like this!   So, for anyone who’s mad about fun cocktails, rooftop lounges, or simply having a fun time with friends, mad46 is highly recommended by this panelist!
When you want to make the most of the City that Doesn't Sleep, go to Mad 46!
Peachy Deegan loves it!
She was even genetically inclined to...
