Consolo & Aquino Bring Basha to Bigger Space

Why Did the King of Charms Cross the Road?

Consolo & Aquino Move Jewelry Designer Aaron Basha to 685 Madison Avenue,
Directly Across from Original Shop in Carlton House

The preeminent leasing team of Faith Hope Consolo, Chairman, and Joseph A. Aquino, Executive Vice President of Prudential Douglas Elliman's Retail Group has arranged the move of one of the Upper East Side's favorite jewelry and collectibles designers, Aaron Basha, to 685 Madison Avenue, between 61st and 62nd Streets, directly across the street from his long-time shop at the Helmsley Carlton House.

Known for his fine enameled charms and collectibles, including gem-stone laden lady bug charms and baby shoes, Mr. Basha's boutique has been a Madison Avenue fixture for more than a decade and his family's renowned jewelry business dates back to the 1950s. The move takes him to an 1,100-square-foot space previously occupied by the Ivanka Trump Collection.

Among Aaron Basha's immediate neighbors are Judith Ripka, Agent Provocateur, George Jensen and Brunello Cucinelli.  Other exclusive stores that Ms. Consolo and Mr. Aquino have introduced to this rarified block are DeLaneau, Leggiadro and Bond No. 9. Considered the maestros of Madison Avenue retail, particularly along the bejeweled streets of the sixties and seventies, the duo has brought at least one luxury retailer to every block along the corridor, including such world-renowned names as Cartier, Cesare Paciotti, Fogal, Godiva, Jimmy Choo, Kwiat, Longchamp, Paul & Shark, Sermoneta, and Soigné K.

"Aaron Basha is iconic on Madison Avenue for his bejeweled baby shoes, which have been enjoyed by New Yorkers for generations," said Ms. Consolo. "This move is significant because it provides him with larger space and greater frontage for much better visibility."

Added Mr. Aquino, "This was part of our musical chairs on Madison swap because we moved Mr. Basha into the elegant, former Ivanka Trump Collection space and then took Ms. Trump downtown to Soho in a space at 109 Mercer Street that is three times the size and will accommodate her entire collection."

Ms. Consolo and Mr. Aquino exclusively represented all parties in this transaction.
