READ THIS: Extraordinary Pigs, by Stephen Green-Armytage

After all of these dinner reviews, Peachy is feeling a bit like Miss Piggy so she decided to quite literally read about this persuasion.  Filled with spectacular photos and more varieties of pigs than you probably know exist, Extraordinary Pigs is a fun read for animal lovers of all ages and those that love animals from all around the world.  The piglets are of course the cutest! From wild pigs to farm pigs to spotted pigs, we don't think the author overlooked any of them.  Entertaining, informative and well done, Extraordinary Pigs is perfect to pick up on a Friday!

About the book
From the author of Extraordinary Chickens comes the latest extraordinary animal--the pig. One of the most intelligent animals on earth, the pig is a fascinating creature with an abundance of personality. Photographer Stephen Green-Armytage captures these lively and energetic animals as they play and forage on the farm, prance around in the show ring, or strut across a studio backdrop.

Extraordinary Pigs
displays an enormous variety of swine, 38 in total, including tiny Kunekunes, wrinkled Meishans, spotted Gloucester Old Spots, curly-coated Mangalitzas, wild boars, and some miniatures, which are highly prized as pets. Breeds from around the world are featured here--from the United States, England, Wales, Austria, Belgium, Hungary, New Zealand, China, Vietnam, Africa, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

Stephen Green-Armytage is the author of Abrams' Extraordinary series of books on chickens, pheasants, and pigeons, and his photographs have appeared in such magazines as Sports Illustrated, LIFE, Fortune, and Smithsonian. His chicken photographs are the subject of a popular series of calendars.
