Champagne Wishes: Colores Del Sol 2010 Malbec Recommended by Whom You Know
After recently being impressed by a Malbec Rose' from Argentina, I searched my local wine house for a full-bodied Malbec. I know that the malbec grape is one of the six grapes allowed in the blending of red Bordeaux wines, but I wanted to try another product from Argentina again. My friendly store-keeper suggested a 2010 Malbec produced by Colores Del Sol, a relatively new source from Mendoza, Argentina. I have read that those vineyards are among the sunniest and driest regions on earth, perfect for these grapes. The bouquet suggested blackberry, possibly cherry with a touch of spice. The color was simply one of the darkest, richest, and deepest plum red hue I have ever seen, very inviting. Now for the best part, the taste. This full bodied wine has you believing that liquid raspberries and cherries are floating on your palate, a delightful taste with rounded tannins. The winemakers at Colores Del Sol, which means Colors of the Sun, have produced a Malbec wine that has excellent balance and is an enjoyable libation. I was a little bit skeptical when I was told the price, but I can assure you this very affordable wine will please your taste buds. I am looking forward to Colores Del Sol's next release and am sure it will be as pleasurable as the 2010 Malbec. Check out their website at www.COLORESDELSOLWINES.com.
I recently tried the "Colores del Sol" 2010 Malbec. It was in very short, absolutely delectable. This particular wine allows you to take a trip to our continent to the south. It is made specifically in the Mendoza region of Argentina. This region is certainly making a name for itself as one of the top Malbec-producing regions of the world. With the few first sips of this wine, I knew I was tasting something extraordinary. I could taste the blackberries, balsamic spices and rich peppery taste on immediate contact with my palate. The heat of summer often call for a chilled white or rose. However this particular Malbec (slightly chilled) would go fantastic with that summer barbecue. Paired with a juicy filet mignon or sirloin, the "Colores del Sol" seems like a perfect complement. Other ideal pairings with this top of the line Malbec may include a smokey slow roasted pork or braised rib. In conclusion, two thumbs up for the "Colores del Sol" 2010 Malbec, and certainly a wine worth enjoying for any occasion.
I am always looking to try new red wines. My goal is to have a list of favorites that I can count on when I am looking for a great bottle. After trying Colores Del Sol Malbec, I now have another red wine to add to my list. I love Malbec wines, and this one does not disappoint. The wine has a lovely dark ruby red color. The aroma smells of dark berries and cloves. The taste is full of flavor ranging from cherry and blackberry to a slight hint of mocha and oak. This wine would pair well with most any meal. I feel, however, that it would go best with a steak. It would also be perfect with cheese! A bottle of this wine with a cheese plate would be heavenly! Colores Del Sol Malbec is a perfect choice for anyone seeking out a nice red wine.
Colores del Sol wine is from Argentina. It is a Malbec, very flavorsome and really delicious. Argentinian wine has made a big investment in quality control in recent years, resulting in better wines and a renewed respect among wine-lovers. Colores del Sol (meaning 'Colours of the Sun') is aiming to be a quality wine that is also affordable. It has a distinctive, appealing taste: Dry, but not too dry, woody, but not too woody, fruity, but not too fruity. Launched as recently as 2009, the bottle that I tried was from last year's crop: it is full-bodied and offers aromas of blackberry and wild cherry. The grapes are sourced exclusively from the Lujan de Cuyo district of Mendoza, one of the most respected wine growing regions in Argentina. This wine contains 13.5% alcohol. The vineyards are among the highest, driest and sunniest in the world. Grown closer to God, inspired by the devil?!! Who knows, you are best to try this wine for yourself to sample its exquisite taste!

2010 Malbec Mendoza, Argentina
The Colores del Sol Malbec is sourced exclusively from the Luján de Cuyo district within Mendoza, one of Argentina’s most prestigious wine growing regions. At elevations reaching 3,500 feet, the vineyards in the Luján de Cuyo are among the highest, driest, and sunniest in the world. This elevation allows the area to remain cool while the grapes bask in bright, pure sunlight. This inspired the wine’s name: in English, ‘Colors of the Sun’.
Viticulture: 2010 was a banner year for Argentina. After an early November frost, growers were treated to a very long, dry season. A January heat spike delayed ripening, which led to a late but exceptional harvest. The result was healthy, fully-ripened fruit, which achieved optimal flavor development.
Tasting Notes: The 2010 Colores del Sol Malbec is deep ruby in color with bright purple hues. Intense aromas of ripe blackberry and hints of spice lead into a rich, fruit-driven palate, dominated by flavors of raspberry and black cherry. The wine shows excellent balance with an opulent, full-bodied mouthfeel and fine grained tannins.
Cellaring: Enjoy now or cellar until 2014.
