Champagne Wishes: Vin Parfait 2009 California Red Wine Recommended by Whom You Know

What a carefully and meticulously balanced plethora of flavors. To begin with, the Vin Parfait Red Wine originates from predominantly the Lake County and Paso Robles sections of California. The cool nights allow idea ripening conditions for the grapes. The various types of wine incorporated into the Red Wine include Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Zinfandel, Perir Sirah and Merlot. The blackberry and boysenberry flavors from the Cab gets complemented from the spiciness of the Syrah and Zinfandel. The perfect time of year to sample this deliciousness? Autumn and Late Summer. That would be my ideal season for sampling the "Vin Parfait Red Wine". Imagine pairing the "Vin Parfait" Red Wine along with your next camping trip to see the fall foliage? Ideal pairings of the Vin Parfait would be that freshly baked apple pie or smores marshmallow campfire treat. Should you decide to pair it up with your next cookout think red meats such as fillet mignon or even sirloin hamburgers. In short, I simply cannot wait for our next cookout to uncork and fresh bottle of the "Vin Parfait" Red Wine sitting in our cellar!

The Red Wine is absolutely delicious, with rich flavors of blackberry and chocolate. It is smooth but not too smooth, and sits invitingly on the tongue. Sipping it, one is reminded of happy thoughts: it is an ideal reward after achieving work goals, finishing a book, or making it home on a rain-swept day. The wine comes from Lake County and Paso Robles, California. Warm days and cool nights create the perfect conditions for the flavors that make this wine so enjoyable. It is a fabulous blend of some top wine classifications: 44 per cent Cabernet Sauvignon accounts for the blackberry and boysenberry flavors. Zinfandel (26 per cent) and Syrah (13 per cent) account for the spicy notes, and the oak aging gives it a slightly vanilla flavor. It also contains some Petite Sirah (11 per cent) and 6 per cent Merlot.

Even though white wine is usually my preference in the hot summer months, I still love my red wine. So on the few occasions throughout the summer when I do choose red, why not make the perfect choice? Sometimes it can be difficult deciding between all the great varieties of red wines. Vin Parfait makes it so easy! They have created a Red Wine that is the perfect blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Syrah, Petite Sirah, and Merlot. The first thing I noticed is the lovely violet color. The wine gives off a fragrant aroma of berries and jam, as well. The taste is a delicious blend of blackberry and raspberry flavors along with just a hint of vanilla. You will love it! It would go great with a light pasta salad, or even all on its own! Don't miss out on trying this great new wine. Once you take a sip, the first words out of your mouth will be, "Parfait!"

I recently ran across a new line of boutique wines, Vin Parfait, cellared and bottled by Wine World Estates of Napa, California. I've read where this new endeavor will be sold at a very reasonable price at the big box store with the red circles in the near future. The "targets" for the product are sophisticated, young women looking for that special Red Wine. The 2009 Vin Parfait is a delicious blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Syrah and Merlot. I poured a glass of the Red Wine and enjoyed the fruity aroma, a mixture of strawberry and, cherries for a soft, inviting nose. The beautiful, rich, dark, fruity color had a purple tint on the edges, very appealing. Now to the taste, finally. On the first sip, I detected a very pleasant blackberry and raspberry mixture. The Red Wine was neither dry, nor sweet, a happy medium in my book. Further tastes revealed just the slightest hint of vanilla, one of my most favorite flavors. I enjoyed a glass of this wine slightly chilled along with a light snack while relaxing by the pool. In my humble judgment, this is a great wine to introduce to your friends who might be novice wine drinkers and the more experienced wine lovers will also enjoy the Vin Parfait Red Wine.

Vintage & Vineyards

The Vin Parfait Red wine comes from selected vineyard sites throughout California, predominantly Lake County and Paso Robles, where warm days and cool nights provide optimal ripening conditions. Cabernet Sauvignon lends flavors of blackberries and boysenberries, which are enhanced by lovely spicy notes from the Syrah and Zinfandel, along with a slight toasty vanilla character from oak aging.

The 2009 growing season started out dry, but with healthy spring rains, the vineyards flourished. Summer brought warm days and cool evenings, perfect for consistent ripening, while maintaining natural acidity in the grapes. Optimal ripening conditions and gentle heat spikes leading into harvest resulted in full flavor development, producing exceptionally balanced wines.

Winemaking

After being harvested at optimum ripeness, this winemaker applies traditional fermentation techniques tailored to the characteristics of each vineyard. After gently extracting the skins for 7 days for full color and flavor intensity, the wines are aged with toasted French oak.
