Champagne Wishes: Vin Parfait 2009 California Chardonnay Recommended by Whom You Know

"Splendid". That was my reaction upon tasting the "2009 Vin Parfait Chardonnay". It originates from various vineyards along California's coastal regions. One of the best parts I found was its unique Chardonnay qualities and refreshing acidity's incorporated into the wine. The citrus and peachy flavors along with the light touch of Riesling make this a perfect wine for any summer event. However what made this stand out along with the above flavors was the spiciness and floral like hints detected. This wine would be great with any summer picnic. There are a ton of ideal pairings to match the "Vin Parfait Chardonnay with". Some of these may include any and all pasta salads, cured meats and or various types of cheeses. If you want to incorporate the "Vin Parfait" to a dinner or outdoor barbecue, pair this up with a nice grilled sea bass or even a spicy barbecued smoked chicken dish. In final, the "Vin Parfait Chardonnay" was clean and crisp on the palate. In my opinion it gets two thumbs and great company for you next summer picnic or barbecue.

Most of the time I prefer a good red wine, but on these hot summer days, I tend to look for something more refreshing. The taste of a crisp white wine always beats red on a hot and sticky summer day. However, since I do not normally buy white wine, it usually becomes a tough choice to make once I get to the store. I don't have my usual favorites, as I do with red wines. Thankfully, Vin Parfait has come out with a 2009 California Chardonnay. This "perfect wine" did not disappoint. First off, the golden yellow color is absolutely beautiful. I smelled peach and flowers the moment i poured it into my glass. The taste was parfait too! I could taste hints of lemon, apple, and pear. The small amounts of Muscat and Riesling that are added in definitely enhance the flavor, making it sweeter and brighter. I could keep drinking this Chardonnay all summer long! And maybe I'll do just that!

After tasting Vin Parfait's Red Wine, we decided to try their 2009 California Chardonnay. The grapes are grown in vineyards along California's coastal regions where the cool weather is crucial to a good harvest. Once home, we chilled the Chardonnay and made a light dinner. Once poured, we were drawn by the pure, light, lemony color. The pleasant aroma of crisp, tropical, citrus fruits met our nose. I thoroughly enjoyed the refreshing taste of a slightly tart pear, apple, lemon and a hint of vanilla. The characteristics of this chardonnay are as one would expect and the acidity is very refreshing. The not overly sweetness of this wine complemented our evening meal very nicely. The fruity flavor also went extremely well with the fresh fruit dessert we enjoyed that evening. I would suggest that if you are looking for an affordable chardonnay, the Vin Parfait would be the one to choose. Vin Parfait translates to "something perfect." A perfect wine for summertime foods and your favorite, light snacks.

This wine is perfect after a long day. If you've been working hard, got it finished, and need to treat yourself, what better way than with a glass of scrumptious red wine from California: Vin Parfait. The Chardonnay is a very smooth wine and contains hints of tropical fruit and floral aromas, enriched with creamy vanilla and spice. From 2009, the vines are grown in sunny California's coastal regions, which gives it that special taste. In addition, Riesling adds citrus and white peach, and the addition of Muscat gives it a spicy feel as well as creating those floral aromas. It also contains hints of golden delicious apple, honeydew melon, lemon zest and pear, which all make for a wonderful-tasting wine.

Vintage & Vineyards

The 2009 Vin Parfait Chardonnay comes from selected vineyard sites throughout California’s cool coastal regions, yielding wines with classic Chardonnay characteristics and refreshing acidity. The addition of small amounts of Riesling lends characters of citrus and white peach, while Muscat adds a touch of spice and floral aromas.

The 2009 growing season started out dry, but with healthy spring rains, the vineyards flourished. Summer brought warm days and cool evenings, perfect for consistent ripening, while maintaining natural acidity in the grapes. Optimal ripening conditions and gentle heat spikes leading into harvest resulted in full flavor development, producing exceptionally balanced wines.

Winemaking

After being harvested at optimum ripeness, the Chardonnay grapes were whole-cluster pressed to obtain the most delicate juice. After undergoing a 25 day cold fermentation, the wines were aged with toasted French oak to add hints of vanilla and a slight toasty characteristic. The influence of malolactic fermentation (75%) lends a creamy, luscious texture to the mouthfeel.

Tasting Notes

Brilliant pale straw in color, the 2009 Vin Parfait Chardonnay begins with aromas of golden delicious apple, honey dew melon and hints of fresh French vanilla. Clean and crisp on the palate, flavors of lemon zest, apple, and toasted white Bartlett pear dominate, with notes of sweet pure vanilla.
