Famed Irish Tenor David O'Leary Joins The 63rd Annual Artists & Writers Charity Softball Game to help raise money & awareness for 3 Local Charities


The 63rd East Hampton Artists and Writers Softball Game,featuring a lineup that includes some of the most talented and creative East Enders, will take place on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 2PM in Herrick Park, in the heart of East Hampton Village. Batting Practice starts at noon. Suggested donation $10 which will benefit three charities:


East Hampton Day Care Learning Center provides exceptional early education to more than 100 children every day, focusing on the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of young children.
Phoenix Houses of Long Island offer substance abuse treatment and prevention programs for adults and adolescents, including the Phoenix House Academy of Long Island, a residential high school for 45 and an out-patient program for adults located in East Hampton.
East End Hospice provides care for terminally ill patients, their families and loved ones. Hospice also offers bereavement counseling and sponsors Camp Good Grief, a summer day camp for children who have experienced the loss of a loved one.

Stepping up to the plate this year for the Artists will be Alec Baldwin, Christie Brinkley, Eric Ernst, Ed Hollander, Edward Tyler Nahem, Countess LuAnn de Lesseps, Josh Charles, Walter Bernard, Greg Bello and Lori Singer, among many others. On the Writers side, team members include Ken Auletta,Mike Lupica, Josh Charles, Carl Bernstein, Mort Zuckerman, Richard Reeves, Jim Leyritz, Rod Gilbert, Mark Weinstein, Gail Sheehy, Mark Green, Lawrence O’Donnell, Roger Rosenblatt, Richard Wieseand Maria Eftimiades.

Also in attendance will be famed Irish Tenor, David O"Leary, who has sung  for US President Clinton, President of Ireland Mary McAleese, US Chief Justice John Roberts, Governor Martin O’Malley ofMaryland, the New York Mets and the New York Giants. He will be performing for the crowd and will also announce the release of his debut album.

Families are invited to enjoy hot dogs and burgers, Snapple and Soft Serve Fruit at the game and dozens of raffle giveaways. Limited edition 2011 Game T-shirts and hats will also be available for sale.
