Terrific Takeout: Cafe Joul

Wild mushroom ravioli with truffles and pencil asparagus warmly awaits you with a heavenly scent and a even more delicious taste at Cafe Joul, a lovely French Bistro nestled at 1070 First Avenue between 58th and 59th streets. That was Peachy's entree du jour for Terrific Takeout, and each bite melted in her mouth and was one of the best raviolis we've had recently...every last drop of the truffle sauce was soaked up with the fresh bread. You know Peachy likes to do things like order steak at an Italian restaurant to see if they can do it...our point is we like to order traditional items to see how well diversified a restaurant is. Cafe Joul does indeed go beyond the basic french bistro cuisine we know now because the Grilled shrimp Caesar salad was a hit. They cut off the shrimp tails, the lettuce was cut bite size...they remembered to put the dressing on the side... And for you traditionalists, we can also verify that the country pate was quite good as well. Finally, they popped in chocolate cake for dessert so we are sure they are reading us...feeding Peachy chocolate is always a good way to put her in a good mood.
